Cameron Henry, another "conservative" who likes to drag on about small government and low taxes and personal freedom, yet restricts freedom here.

it seems like it would be more christ-like to let people use their free will (to an extent) and then let God sort it all out at the end.

You are absolutely right and this is absolutely the case.

I've always said you can't legislate morals. You can only legislate to mitigate for the damage done AFTER a person compromises the morals ingrained within him.

My God is a reasonable God. I cannot imagine, nor can I find in scripture, anywhere where gambling just to have a little fun means you are destined for an eternity apart from Him. Everything in moderation. Every thing.

The politicians can make their laws to mitigate for those who take gambling to extremes and who disregard moderation (even though, per usual, the laws won't work a damned bit to eradicate it), but even so, we ought to let God sort it out in the end. We all know who is playing with fire and who isn't, and so does God. Again, my God is a reasonable God.

And too many people want to play His role.

Don't judge me because I sin differently than you.

And don't pass your laws as a way to justify it. It goes both ways, and it's not only Republicans who are trying to legislate their ethics.

Passing laws is one way self-righteous people love to be justified when playing God, and politicians are unmatched in their arrogant pride and righteousness.

When will Louisiana get politicians who say 'enough is enough,' and vote on behalf of the people rather than their own greedy interest? This has been the story of Louisiana for generations and why we struggle so much as a state economically. We are run by a bunch of politicians who could never make it in any other industry who vote on behalf of their own interests rather than that of the people who reside there. This is just another example of thousands. For frick sake David Vitter was almost just elected Governor (after he made a commercial with his son lobbying how his dad wasnt a state funded hooker banging coke snorting wanna be big shot)

Sportsbetting should be allowed in the Casinos and Race Tracks, but not bars and convenience stores, and needs to be ably regulated by a La State Gaming Commission(not LSP..even if former agents become the LGC)..

Thus, too many Video Poker locations to handle. Plus, without kiosks for low limit tickets, you'd never be able to staff properly if requiring human hands..will be a challenge even for the 20 casinos/racinos in this invalid state.

The L state for a reason..clown state gonna clown..50th rated state gonna be 50th to finally allow Sportsbetting.

I wonder how many of these legislators own truckstops/places with video poker machine. Pretty sure many of these folks own nursing homes which they also regulate.

The fact that it says "allowed in selected jurisdictions" without specifics leaves it wide open for corruption and that is exact what happens when someone wants to open up a truck stop casino.

It's one big game. You can't just decide to open up a truck stop casino. You can't just go get the permits and licenses you need and start running your business. You have to be able to get it approved by the state, which usually involves working with the local politicians {parish president, sheriff, any position elected by the whole parish). That comes with a price (the local politicians are more likely to be some type of owner).

Those local politicians work with the state legislators who represent parts of that parish who are able to get it pushed through. The local politicians can have an impact on the state legislators staying in office, since they have a bigger thumb on the voters in their area. So if a state legislator does not want to cooperate then they risk having that local politician not support them, which could cost them a lot of votes.

But the legislators usually receive their part of it through donations.

The Baptist had a small portion of this bill failing. People aren't seeing the behind the scenes picture here. Martiny will be on the radio today at noon to speak the truth about what happen

North LA probably has a 20% blame on this

They obviously think so. His thinking is degenerates will spend their money elsewhere or not have the same amount of funds to spend if there's another form of gaming in LA.

That's why there was a push to get those 2,800 locations involved so degens can do all their spending in the same locations.

He knows better, he just wants to be able to have access to the marketplace. But, without low limit ticket kiosks, there will be no way to do this, as human hands and/or State regulation is impossible for this many locations.

Video Poker Gamblers and Sports Bettors have very little overlap in terms of patrons, totally different demographics..

And now it’s official: there will be no sports betting for at least two years, as the most corrupt and backwards-arse state government in America wouldn’t even give the citizens the ability to vote on the issue. Session ended today at 6.

Also, despite the public voting and passing fantasy sports at the polls, the legislature couldn’t pass a proper tax bill in time, so there will be a 2 year wait for fantasy sports too. How can we have any faith in our government when they can’t even carry out our express directives?

Well all you have to do is go look at the Nay votes. The “holier than thou” bible thumpers killed the Bills.

THE bill to legalize sports gambling only did so in the full casinos (aka Harras and the riverboats). Georges wants sports gambling to also be legal at the hundreds of truck stop casinos and bars with video poker machines. Rather than legalize it in casinos now and then push to expand it into truck stops, Georges sabotaged the bill to keep it illegal everywhere unless he can get it legal at the truckstops that use his video poker machines.
