The rain may keep me away, but I'm not staying away because of pit bulls. A spray can of citronella or a shake can is enough to scare the majority of dogs away, even when they are in an aggressive phase.
Plus, all dogs should be leashed.

Actually Baton Rouge ordinance states it’s illegal to have all but s Service animals at permitted events.
Sec. 12:610. - Animals prohibited at festivals.

Me and a couple buddies pulled the queen's float for the owner many years ago. Paid us $50 each and booze. I don't remember how that was arranged. I think he was friends with one of the guy's mom.
