That's an actual article from CNN. I honestly didn't believe it at first.

Why dont they just put a big arse cable across all navigable waters and pull the boats across like a ski rope. Easy peasy.

Are we going back to the Age of Sail now? Retards.

LOL. That might be an idea they bring up before long.
And maybe we can teach dolphins or whales to pull vessels across the oceans

CNN invented sails.
I was about to say, I feel like its been done before.

Kites could pull cargo ships across seas to lower carbon emissions

So, we are going back to sailboats? How "progressive".

I can envision boats with levels of oars to provide the sub 80 IQ crowds with meaningful employment that fights global warming and allows them to broaden themselves by seeing the world.

It will just take a lot longer and be much more expensive
It will probably be a little more expensive, but it won’t take longer because it would be a supplement.

So like having sails on ships?

Perfect insight into the energy demand deniers. They fail to understand that engineering by definition involves economics and efficiency.
They have blown $7 trillion dollars on green nonsense for a 4% (debatable if even 4%) reduction in the proportion of fossil fuels that make up global energy supply.
In addition, If that $7 trillion was spent on fossil fuel extraction, we could have reduced fossil fuel prices materially and had more energy for the 3+ billion people that are burning dung to survive.
This simply doesn’t work, it’s amazing they think they can somehow politic their way around thermodynamics and physics.

I mean, a Sail is just a big kite. So proof of concept has been established for a few centuries.

There have been tests with adding large sails to supercarriers.
Don't quote me but I think it increased fuel efficiency by like 15%
I mean, lower operating costs are a good thing to me

I don't think people actually read the article. I have no idea if it will work or if it's cost effective (although how expensive could it be) but it's simply meant to be a supplement. It's not replacing engines.

Progress sure seems like its pushing us back to the 1800s.
