I used these and you had to wait in line to run your program.

Keep your pimp hand strong.

My handwriting was never a thing of beauty. But it’s almost
Embarrassing how bad it’s become due to lack of use. I never write notes or letters anymore. Everything is done electronically and as a result my handwriting has really suffered.

So this meme is obsolete?

At least it6a start. Kids need to learn outside green grass and fresh air before they ever learn a computer or phone.
Some of you set a terrible example to your kids with your eyes plastered to a screen. Sunlight, green grass and fresh air are what people, but kids especially,, need to experience. Not a fricking computer.
Kids these days don't know how to use a compass, hunt or even learn how to be bored. Learning how to be bored and occupy time is an important skill in life. These young kids are passive participants in life. Content to spend it watching a screen live life for them.

Good.

As a high school teacher I’ll vouch for that. The amount of times I have a kid tell me “I don’t know how” for simple shite is amazing. I’m talking as simple as restarting the computer

None of this matters. The engineers used us to mine all of the gold on this planet and now the Sumerian demon will manifest itself and harvest our piss shite and semen to fuel itself.

Should kids still learn the dewey decimal system too? How will they ever figure out how to find information they need?
Posted on 3/28/26 at 7:28 am to StansberryRules
And most of them can’t work a typewriter either

My kid must submit all requests in algorithm format in COBOL and their object oriented coding language of their choice, but can't repeat the same one in the same week.
Oh, and no getting around that shite with a do-while or for-if loop.
I will, however, give bonus points for a successful prompt injection on our family agentic AI assistant.
No fricking with the MCP though. I ain't raising no script kiddies.

Watching TV is just as bad.

My coding skills have significantly declined. Can’t remember shite anymore.

We don't have teachers that understand the difference between how to effectively use technology to help them teach and letting technology teach for them. The latter is really stunting growth and I fear we're just now understanding how to integrate it.

quote:one of my mine got her /undergrad and master"s degree from LSU. Makes 6 figures. My other who is more intelligent dropped out of LSU with a 3.4gpa because he hates school also makes 6 digits. He has a gaming pc and plays everyday after work. He was like this as a kid. He enjoys it. He doesnt gamble, drink, cheat, break laws etc. Ill admit, he might be missing out on some good prime trim down the road at the club etc but to each his own right?

And I didn’t know how to use a punch card. So what? The desktop computer is becoming obsolete just like prior iterations of computers have.
Posted on 3/28/26 at 11:17 am to StansberryRules
Desktop computers are approaching obsolescence. Most kids grow up in houses that don't have them because most people don't need them anymore. I don't really see the issue TBH. Most people have real jobs that don't require sitting in front of a computer monitor all day.
