Unfortunately for a couple of friends there is no doubt that Hyundai’s 6 cylinder issues are still present. Kia annd Hyundai are still ‘buy at your own risk’ thus the class leading warranty.

Kia and Hyundai have the worst most scammy dealers in the industry.

Hyundai's come with a 10 year 100,000 mile power train warranty. No other companies offer close to that good of a warranty
You can drive a toyota or honda like an a-hole and the powertrain will last you >100k without issues.

Kia for sure.
Warranty is meaningless when the factory can’t supply enough engines to meet the demand for all of the replacements.
Buddy has a Hyundai and it uses what Hyundai claims is a “normal” amount of oil but adding in between oil changes is foreign to me with the Toyotas we have.

If they’ve really fixed the theta engine issue then yes, sure. If not then they’re about to each go under.

No they aren't.

1) they are becoming uninsurable unless they are push to start
2) they don’t compete with American cars, they compete with European cars and they suck arse compared to them

Mazda is better than Kia or Hyundai.

Reliability
Some of y’all need to do more research. This isn’t Kia and hyundai of the late 90s and early 2000s. Since 2018 they have been one of if not the highest scoring on reliability.

The only thing worse than their engine reliability are their dealers. We had a Genesis that was horrific. Made the Jeep we bought later seem reliable.

I had a 2018 Santa Fe sport with one of the theta engines that ended up going out at 120,000 even though I stayed on top of all the oil changed religiously.
I bought one of the new elantras because the dealer I got it from threw in a lifetime on the powertrain for free and guaranteed me if anything happened to the engine they’d cover it as long as I stayed on top of oil changes.
It’s my understanding that the engine issues were addressed in 2020 or so, so that made me feel better as well but if they haven’t they’re going to be hurting bad. They’re already having trouble with the mess they’re dealing with from before, from what I was told.

I put 2 quarts into one of our Toyota’s every 500 to 750 miles. Just sayin. No smoke, no leak.
Still runs like a top despite that. Valve seal/rings issue. Other Toyota products are great.
