I can't wait for there to be 5 different threads on how this was the worst Superbowl show of all time. It's basically a yearly tradition for the OT.

I know who he is

I don’t even necessarily dislike him, i just think the fawning is absurd

But not being aware of a pop culture figure isn’t something i hold against people either, especially in this era

I don't think people 40 and older realize that these Super Bowl halftime performances aren't meant for them.

The whole idea behind it is to draw in the crowd that won't regularly tune in for a football game. Kendrick is a huge draw right now for that.

The Super Bowl is 100% black. I am sure we will have a black singing that fricking crap before OUR anthem then another black singing our real anthem.

Can’t wait for this to change..

The college game I went to yesterday played a Kendrick Lamar song. I don’t know if I’m a fan, but my son and all his friends are. He is already considered one of the best rappers of all-time. He is the 1st non-classical or jazz musician to win a Pulitzer Prize.

My son said he has only put out 5 albums, but all the songs are really good.

I think he will put on a great show

He’s really small. He says he’s 5’3”, but that might be a stretch

Serious question for those you saying you have never heard of Kendrick Lamar, how old are you? I’m an older millennial and it is hard for me to fathom anyone my age or younger having never heard of him. He’s been ubiquitous in pop culture for at least a decade.

Is he the This Is America guy or is that Childish Gambino? Don’t know the difference from the two. Not positive I could identify Kendrick if shown a picture. Don’t care much either way, I listen to metal

90s did it better. Diss track was about screwing the others wife. Now it's about being called a pedophile.
I'd rather summertime say they screwed my wife than abuse me of being a pedophile. This may be the lowest blow diss of all time.

Only one harder was Jim Carrey's diss of Snow in the 90s.

Based on their outreach, Zoomers and Millennial women are their target audience.

Disney $ is extremely influential and so indoctrination of the children is one of the primary targets. (How many networks does Disney bid millions or billions for televising rights for individually?)

The whole “experience” park the Super Bowl sets up like a medium sized theme park is geared towards kids. They know to get their hooks in early childhood when they are most vulnerable.

Regardless of your opinion of rap music, it has a pretty terrible live quality almost every time. I've seen legit rappers like Eminem and Nas live and even their live quality is pretty garbage. It's even worse watching live rap through the television and not being there to at least feel the energy.

I don't think the genre lends itself well to a Super Bowl half time show at all due to this. That is unless he lip syncs, which is lame.

Boosie mad, y’all

Also, I’m sure it has something to do with the left adopting “Not Like Us” as their slogan for black voters. The time is ripe for Drake to make a hard heel turn and start doing collaborations with far right country artists.
