Bev picked #5 as foreman...middle aged black man who took no notes.
I've never heard of the judge picking the foreman. Is this common in the CW?
I would think this "could" be prejudicial. Some jurors might give more weight to his opinion because he was selected by the judge and not the jurors....maybe.
How does she know if he'd be a good foreman? Has she been back visiting with the jury during off times? These jurors have been together and they would have a better idea of who might be best.
ETA: I just heard that Massachusetts law allows the judge to select the foreman. Strange.

In a normal instance, what would be the legal reason for a judge to be able to choose the foreman?

I always try to predict who will end up being the foreman. I talk to that person. I was off last time, but it ended up not making any difference.

One holdout works either way for a HJ. KR will take that.

You should text her and ask if she will accept a HJ bc the answer is yes

Sounds like the jury is going to be sent home for the weekend.

Check the time stamp. That was before the jury was formally chosen. ha.
Yes im aware. Just was stating that its good the one you thought was a plant, ended up being an alternate.
I did see some speculation that juror #5 who was selected forepereson, didn't take notes either. So we'll see.

I really can't see them trying this for a 3rd time.

Her lawyers have asked for a mistrial at least twice.

Seems like there is some circumstantial evidence pointing towards that play fight at the bar actually being nefarious.

I have been without internet all day and just got service and the first thing I did was come here.
So sending the jury home for the weekend. Anyone think that is a good or bad thing?
When a jury is told to not read about it or talk about the trial do they just trust they will do that? I would be tempted to see what people looking at it from the outside thinks.. Or if there is anything else that should be considered, etc (which I know I have to trust that everything I needed to make a decision was presented to me).
But at the same time there might be members of the jury who are told something by families members that might not even be true that ends up factoring into their decision..
Just thinking about all the possibilities would make me nervous...

There's a few possible trola on here that think that but can never articulate why.
One guy said she should be guilty of manslaughter solely because she allegedly drove drunk.

I heard some discussion on the verdict form. Saw a picture but couldn't read it. Sounds like the 2nd page is confusing. Wasn't that an issue brought up by a juror in the first trial?

I have no idea how people think and who in the jury can influence people to think a certain way.
From the outside looking in, I can't see how there is any question she is guilty, but you just don't know what stuck with what jury members, etc.
