Just replaced the inlet valve on my Maytag bravos last weekend … 8 years old. Thought it was time to bite the bullet for the speed queen but that $25 Amazon part may buy me another year
re: Savannah Guthrie’s mom missing - being held for ransom - suspect photos released

This is a brother in law is guilty situation and I can’t be convinced otherwise. Sister in the last ransom video was a bit twitchy for my liking. She knows what’s up. This is a horrible situation all the way around.
You’re right in my opinion to go straight from the airline and not third party as if there is an itinerary change, you’re a little stuck trying to get a workable replacement (in my experience). $2500 seems a little steep for bumper season.

If there is even a chance of torpedo grass in your vacinity, zoysia (or Bermuda) is the answer. You are SOL with centipede or st Aug.
re: Tight connection international flight

lol it’s in May! Not right now. We are on the Houston route on the way there, Chicago flight time worked better on the way home.
It is one itinerary and it’s a late in the day flight too (6:15pm landing, 7:56 departing) I know they build in extra time for taxiing, they did give option to confirm or change may see what the other options are but if I remember correctly, other flight connection times were tight too and I’m sure this isn’t the last change in itinerary before May
Tight connection international flight
Posted by 10tiger on 1/21/26 at 7:25 pm
We travel internationally pretty regularly but I’ve never connected through Chicago, so I’m unsure what their passport control/ tsa time is like. We have 1 hour 40 min and global entry. It’s Turkish airlines to united….it was a 2 hour connection but flight was just adjusted. The airline didn’t prompt me to reschedule so I assume they think it’s still doable. The last two times we came home from abroad it was at Dulles and global entry didn’t help much time wise. It was a dumpster fire of epic proportion. What say you frequent fliers?
It was made for a small Canadian network and picked up about two weeks before air date by HBO. I don’t think they expected the amount of attention by any stretch and was pretty low budget.
Low iron stores are also a cause. Not low blood counts necessarily but iron levels. Get your doc to check that as well.

I am bumping this. Just finished watching and to reiterate, many will not give it a chance for the content and that’s ok but man am I blown away by the acting. Connor storrie is a name to watch. The Russian monologue was just one of the many facets of phenomenal acting. Worth the watch.

Yes. That is the high season and what it cost. If you have flexibility, try the bumper season (may, sept)
re: A 'Holy Grail' Sleep Apnea Pill Could Be On The Market Next Year
Posted by 10tiger on 1/12/26 at 11:24 am to St Augustine
Will be interesting to read the trials on these. A lot of meds that have been developed for the treatment of OSA are REM suppressing medications. Sleep apnea is worse in REM sleep, so by suppressing REM sleep theoretically you are improving sleep apnea. The brain also manages to get back to getting into REM sleep eventually. So long term efficacy will be interesting too.

It was very humbling post partum. I couldn’t get a normal arm swing either. Honestly didnt use it very much and would just get on a treadmill during naps.

re: Garage door issue
Posted by 10tiger on 12/31/25 at 4:25 pm to SixthAndBarone
Guy came out. Spring is def going bad. When we first moved in, we had a temporary door while ours came in (it was back ordered). Ours is wind rated and insulated, this guy has concerns that part of the issue is they didn’t change out the tracks when they changed the door to a more substantial track for the heavier door. (there is friction between some of the rollers on the track and isn’t staying in alignment well). I was not home when it was changed so I don’t know about changing out the tracks. Does this sound correct? Is there a way to know if it’s the correct tracks? Proposed solution would be to change the rollers from the current metal to nylon coated (I think that’s what he said) and the springs. I know next to nothing about this aside from what I’ve read online. Like I said before this house I have had no issues with garage doors on any previous houses. I am getting another opinion Friday and ideally the company that put it in will come back to assess but I will be honest I don’t have much faith in them from past experience. And neither does my contractor for that matter because they don’t use them anymore.
Ok so I think it could be the springs … when I pull the cord, lift it half way it falls down to about 4 inches off the ground and won’t go any further. Thanks y’all I’m going to call someone out.

So I have sprayed it with garage door lube and it helps a bit for a day or so. Should I be having to lube the garage door every month or so? Are yall having to do that frequently? I’ve never had to lube a garage door before let alone every month or so.
Garage door issue
Posted by 10tiger on 12/30/25 at 6:00 pm
3.5 year old garage door, randomly over its short life it will make it almost all the way down and come back up. If you hit it again, usually it works. From the inside, it sounds like / appears the second to last wheel is having a hard time making the turn, I can’t find anything obvious that would be causing it. (Track looks ok) And of course it happens for like a week, just as I’m at wits end it chills out and is fine for several months. Any ideas? Not the censors, as I troubleshot this. Thanks in advance
re: Complete home renovation. What brand kitchen appliances would you choose?
Posted by 10tiger on 12/28/25 at 9:11 am to LemmyLives
We have the GE cafe classic and this is prob an unpopular opinion but as far as the fridge goes, my Samsung was better. The freezer has randomly lost screws over the years, it’s a PITA to keep closed. I second the advice of finding out where it’s made. We built a house during covid. There were definitely quality issues in the appliance realm and I have no idea if it’s been fixed or if that’s now status quo. Kitchen aid 6 burner range has been awesome.

It really wasn't too bad other than my wife throwing away the box that had the back axel still in it.
In her denfense, that thing was well hidden!!! I had the box next to me and looked around for a bit before I realized I hadn’t removed the somehow camouflaged 3 foot stick
Got a power wheels with a shocking amount of parts and instructions in mostly English but translated poorly. I will take this any day over the kitchen I put together last year… grossly underestimated that time frame.
Look at some of the lesser options like Paros too. Santorini is gorgeous but very tourist heavy. There are so many islands and most are easy to get to

Check the Chase insurance. It’s saved me a time or two. And they are very easy to work with (sapphire reserved)

Borax works pretty well to get smells out of laundry. Especially mildew. Good luck. That’s the worst because sometimes you don’t quite smell it until it gets damp again …. The worst.
Flew jet blue for the first time in 20 years (honestly, if ever) in October a was pleasantly surprised. New interiors to planes (maybe new planes… not sure) with movies in every seat back, clean, friendly crew and we were on time both flights. Will be a return customer for sure. Blew United and American out of the water … though American is not hard to beat in my experience.

watch commercials
Actually the one thing we laughed about but we’re also annoyed by was how many freaking commercials. It feels like the business model for these platforms is increase commercials until you pay more for less commercials. Before you know it streaming will be a certain price just for commercials. If you want to see a show that will cost ya.
Finished this up last night. We liked it a lot. Lots of character development in such a short show, everyone is simultaneously likable and unlikable. Good show to binge.

It will be a wild ride regardless. The lot of the defendants are in deep. At this point, I can’t see a way out for them if the Read side has receipts as they make a lot of assertions in their court filings. I don’t see a world where the case gets dropped, so I guess I would have to imagine they bank on corrupt politics to not charge them criminally if new (or previously inadmissible) info comes to light. Also in the background is a brewing election for new Norfolk county DA. Will all be very interesting.

This is actually really good. Anyone else get a chance to watch? Child abduction from affluent family crime drama.
Employed and reimbursed are not the same. And it’s part of the problem. Medicare reimbursement has decreased $10/patient per visit over the last 10 years for example. Same for hospital reimbursement. So let’s jack up the price so we can get more back, and that ends up being passed off on those with private insurance. Maybe there is a way to set a price for each item… a reasonable price. An aspirin that cost $4 for a bottle of 60 shouldn’t be billed for $25 a pill. Like I said, as a capitalist I don’t like the idea of government meddling but it seems like something has to give here.
