Kansas couple has eaten at Texas Roadhouse, 6 days a week, for 15 years

Ron Watson is a creature of habit, he admits.
He’s also someone who doesn’t want to cook — and doesn’t want his wife of 20 years, Diana, to have to cook after a long day at work, either.
So nearly every day for the past 15 years, the couple has slid into table 412 at the west-side Texas Roadhouse restaurant for their only meal of the day.
quote:
The Watsons have been keeping their routine since 2004. The only day of the week they don’t go to Texas Roadhouse is on Saturdays, and that’s only because Diana — the former owner of the now-closed A Legacy Antique Mall — works late on Saturdays at Architectural Salvage, and it’s too crowded in the restaurant once she gets off.
quote:
The ritual is all part of the order Ron Watson likes in his life. A Vietnam veteran, he dines only in restaurants that offer military discounts, and Texas Roadhouse gives vets 10 percent off. He still has some PTSD, he said, and he feels comfortable at table 412, which is a booth at the bar that gives him a good view of the door and everyone coming and going.
quote:
He figures they spend about $22 a day at the restaurant, and because it’s the only meal they eat each day, it all evens out, he’s decided.
“It’s just about as cheap as going to the grocery store, buying your groceries, coming home, heating up the kitchen and doing the dishes,” he said. “If your time’s worth anything to you, it’s about the same as eating at home but you get a lot better service.”

Nothing like a 3 course, $9.99 dinner.

$11 per person with tax and tip. I’m sure the servers are scrambling to get them

As a former Texas Roadhouse employee while in college, I can tell you that those people probably left a $3-$5 tip and demanded extra ranch, bread, and honey cinnamon butter.
ETA: table 412 is the 2nd table from the wall as soon as you walk into the bar from the store entrance, right next to the meat case and alley exit.

Nah. You can do pretty good on $22 a day at the grocery store if you're only doing two plates. His money though.

I like how you imply a $3-$5 tip on a $22 bill is somehow bad.
$5 is the max you're going to get and you'll get $3 if you have a punk arse attitude and don't bring me my God damn honey butter.

I went to a restaurant today, had a good waiter and the table next to us left exact change down to the penny. Made me sick

They only eat one meal a day? That's strange.

Just makes my drinking problem look sane.

My first thought as well. Servers have to be some of the most entitled people I’ve met. $4 tip on a $22 bill is 18%.

$4-$5 on a $17-$18 meal is a decent tip. It isn’t like the server has to memorize a wine list and be a somalier either.

They say they spend $22 so percentage would be higher than that. $4/$18 = 22%

Was the person who left exact change wearing shite locks by chance ?

$3-$5 tip
If their bill is $22 plus tax.. Lets say 8%, that's $1.76. I double the tax so that would be $3.52, which I would round up to $4.
If you expect more than $4 or $5 on a $22 check then you will be disappointed more times than not.

I get a lot of Texas Roadhouse gift cards from clients who know I am trashy. I will say they have a great happy hour. The one in Buda typically has some trashy community college girl working the bar and she is hesitant to cut people off.
The San Marcos location I almost got in a fight with some baw. Manager and staff had to restrain him and throw him out with his wife and two kids present. San Marcos location is now closed. Let it burn...
