Not for older folks it isn't. The wife and I only eat one meal a day. We have a very light breakfast and then the "big" meal somewhere between five and six if we're at home.

But yeah I’m guessing something like this is what the linked couple does. It’s probably something horrible like cornflakes with skim milk every morning or Quaker Oats with margarine and black coffee.

If you consider a bowl of cereal or malt-o-meal as a meal then I guess we have two meals a day but to be honest I eat snacks during the day that usually are bigger than my breakfast. Are snacks considered a meal? Not to me they aren't. I just consider it food in a pinch because I'm hungry.

Pho would be cheaper and more interesting but maybe a trigger if he's a 'Nam vet. I always get nasty looks from those Harley riding Vietnam Vets if they see me out with a white girl and I'm not even Vietnamese. They really screwed it up for all Asians.
But these guys could really use some variety. There's Outback, Twin Peaks, Applebee's, Denny's and a Golden Corral right next to Texas Roadhouse. It'd be so easy for them to branch out and explore finer dining.

And I’m sure he’s the type that controls the shite out of her. She had to have permission for stuff, he says stuff like "I let her do this or that" because he wears he pants in that relationship, and like you says she’s no doubt praying for the day she’s not smothered by an over controlling guy that eats the same damned thing every day and won’t go anywhere unless the offer a veterans discount and if they don’t he makes damn well sure they know it.

My FIL eats at the same seafood restaurant about 5 times a week for lunch.
