Every time I drove into Canada, they stopped me at the crossing and asked if I had a gun. I think the law is an American can't bring a gun (Other than hunting?) into Canada.
Having assault weapons means we won't have as much trouble stopping them if their Civilians attempt to invade the USA.

The lethality argument is a pretty backwards and emotional one. Guns are inherently dangerous, guns are designed to kill things. And as noted above, an AR isn’t any more or less lethal than another weapon.
Further, in the United States handguns are involved in 93% of gun deaths.
If gun control worked, you’d actually want to reduce access to cheap handguns, not rifles and carbines.

This. If weapons bans worked, they wouldn't need any. Laws against murdering folks is surely already on the books.
