Are they using the hate crime statute to claim federal jurisdiction?

Maybe you missed the recent news where he’s used his “out for a jog” excuse when he was trying to steal shite before.

The hate crime charges are a joke. You can argue whether or not there was any authority to chase after him, but the charges they’re going after are silly.

Also, quoting this before he deletes it. Again.

You’ve still yet to provide any evidence at all that he was casing a house or committed a crime that warranted them chasing him.

Hate crime laws are so stupid the way they are used.

Charge people with the actual crime, not the “feeling” they had when they did it.

Yep, which is why there is technically no such thing as a hate crime. A crime is a crime.

I hope the DOJ investigates the local authorities that tried to sweep this under the rug. Wasn't McMichael a retired cop or sheriff's deputy?

And you know this how exactly?

even if you give him that assumption, its still entirely irrelevant.

the mcmichaels had no knowledge that a crime was in progress, nor that AA committed that crime. You can look to their statements to police at the time, they said they went to confront him over break ins in the area the past few weeks. its not even close to a legitimate citizens arrest.

Was it a hate crime when those teens killed that Uber driver?
Was it a hate crime when that little boy got shot in the head?
Was it a hate crime the many many times Asian American (also a dumb term) people have been attacked by surprisingly dark white supremacists?

If you are gonna paint with a stupid brush then paint equally

You're attempting to give them a slight bit of cover by accusing Arbery of potentially committing a crime that there is absolutely no evidence of.

Again.

Please provide the evidence that he was casing a house or stealing something that warranted them pursuing him for a citizens arrest.

But the gun was fired only when AA rushed the shooter. That’s backed up by video.

So by this logic if someone tries to rob you with a gun and you rush them, that makes you the aggressor? Not a smart move maybe, but it’s not illegal.

Now you may say it’s not the same because Arbery committed a crime. But they never knew for sure if he actually did anything at the time they went to confront him. They can’t use the self defense argument if they sought him out with a gun already out.

Yeah, unlike Derrick Chauvin, you can prove these rednecks are a bunch of racists.

My post says nothing about who the aggressor was. The shooters “escalated” the situation by chasing him down and trying to keep him. But the gun was fired only when AA rushed the shooter. That’s backed up by video.

the shooter initiated, escalated, and ended the confrontation. thats all on video.

you are trying to blame the gunshot victim for trying to defend themselves from the shooter. thats clown world.

never would have thought we would have gotten to page 2 before someone defended the murderers. maybe we're making progress?

Yes. I hope the entire chain gets fricked here.

They had the video and we're trying to sweep it under the rug.

Think they sat on the video.

I can't think of any reason to defend those dudes.

[not shocked] shocked

These three idiots are absolutely responsible for his death and should be punished to the fullest extent of the law. But a “hate crime” is just dumb.
