He was casing a house to steal property or was in the process of stealing property and was caught, started to run away, citizens tried to perform a citizen’s arrest (legal or not). Arbery refused to stop, kept running, rushed the guy with a gun and got shot.
Maybe you missed the recent news where he’s used his “out for a jog” excuse when he was trying to steal shite before.
The hate crime charges are a joke. You can argue whether or not there was any authority to chase after him, but the charges they’re going after are silly.

If you examine this poster's history, I think labelling him as a progressive - which is what I assume you to mean - is not accurate whatsoever. Folks are allowed to have differing takes on situations, even within their political paradigm.
Bootlicker is an entirely appropriate term for some people - left or right. Those who give deference to whatever authority they recognize without question are bootlickers. Doesn't matter whether that's a bureaucrat, a pundit, or some digital influencer.

Look at his post history on the poli board. Pretty sure he dislikes democrats and voted for Trump.
Bootlickers are anyone who sucks up to authority figures all the time. That applies to both the big government and all cops are always right groups.
In this case, the dad was a former cop and there’s the corrupt DA, but direct active cop involvement is not the main issue.

This is a simple one if you're on the jury. Send those guys away for what they did, but refuse to convict them for bad thoughts. Hang that jury on that count and jury nullify the frick out of thoughtcrime. And, if the state charges in such a way that nullifying the thoughtcrime sets those assholes free, well, so be it. Maybe the state will quit doing that shite if enough juries mushroom stamp them.
