The DEA has officially decided that a notorious fentanyl manufacturer’s synthetic marijuana product is safer and more medically valuable than actual weed.
In an announcement posted Wednesday in the Federal Register, the DEA announced that the drug Syndros, a liquid form of synthetic THC, will be classified as a Schedule II controlled substance, meaning it can be legally prescribed by doctors. Meanwhile, regular marijuana will continue to be listed alongside heroin in the more restrictive Schedule I category, which is reserved for drugs that have “no currently accepted medical use” and “a high potential for abuse.”

Utterly ridiculous. I'd laugh if it wasn't so asinine. Big brother knows best.

I blame the police lobby more than anyone.

We're living in a modern day prohibition that is being stoked by misplaced morals. It's ridiculous. Anyone who is completely OK with alcohol and tobacco being legal and taxed but for whatever reason isn't ok with marijuana is part of the problem.

I hate to tell the DEA that prescription drugs are probably the most abused drugs out there.

Ten more years and the boomers will begin croaking then we can enact sensible policy

Can you imagine a world where you could still lobby for causes, but it was illegal to attach any monetary gains or gifts the politicians you were lobbying?
I know it's just a ridiculous dream, but just imagine.........

Meanwhile thousands upon thousands of Americans will drink themselves to death from perfectly legal alcohol on an annual basis.

I know a lot of conservative boomers that say they'd try weed if it were legal. This needs to be legalized from a federal level and not a local one.

Trump is the real man of the people. Surely he will declassify cannibis.

Hmmmm, I wonder now how this will effect HR policies on drug testing.
This is the federeal government saying there is legitimate medical use and a doctor prescribing it.
Could make an interesting wrongful termination suit.

MJ isn't listed with heroin b/c it's "just as bad". It is listed because, like heroin, it is considered as having no accepted medical use and also a high potential for abuse.
I personally have no opinion on whether it is true that MJ has no accepted medical use and/or has high potential for abuse FWIW. I'm aware many (most?) consider that pretty dubious. That is, however, the current state of affairs. If huffing paint were a drug that would be Schedule I as well.

This is Trump's attorney general trying to keep a straight face when you say that.

Which makes this article even more absurd.
The government is basically saying that THC has no medicinal value when found in marijuana. But, when the same active ingredient is made in a lab, it's an effective medical tool. That's the most counter intuitive thing I've ever heard.
