I have an oil gasket leak so I rarely get oil change since I’m regularly putting new oil in. I never let it get below the add line before topping off.
You still need a new filter.

I just don’t want to get the gasket fixed so I’ll keep doing it this way. I’ve tried Stop Leak but not had much luck with it.
The oil pan gasket? That's a $500 repair at worst. You're paying $200 per year in just oil to top off. I would just bite the bullet and change it. It would drive me nuts to check my oil every single day.

Retired here and like to do a handful of things myself. Oil change is one of them. With premium synthetic and oil filter approx $50. 30 mins of my old man time. ?p

I've got 306,000 miles on my 2010 Nissan Frontier. I change the oil every 5,000-7,000 miles and have since I bought it.

That's good to know. I have an 11 Frontier with 125K. My mechanic said they could last to 400K with proper care and maintenance.

While some people report no problems, there are many documented cases of early wear and failure on modern engines with 10k intervals.
I guess all of my vehicles are exceptions.

My turbo went out on my 19 KR. I still owe on it so Im back to a 11 now. One good thing is that the 6 speed transmission seems to be more durable than the 10r80

I know how to change my own oil but after buying the oil($20) and the filter($10), I'd much rather pay $10 more to have someone do it all for me. It's not worth the hassle of gathering all my tools, Put the car on ramps, etc.
Had to replace the front camera on my wife's Odyssey right before Christmas. It was time for an oil change so I asked the dealership how much it would cost. Just under $100.
No thanks. I'll change the oil and teach my boys something in the process.

Go by the car manufacturer’s recommendation interval not the bottle of oil.
Car manufacturer goal is to get you to buy a replacement vehicle
Oil manufacturer goal is to get you to buy more oil
5k oil change lets you keep the vehicle longer. Cheap easy coverage.

I have well over 2 million miles on my work cars. I average between 300-350k before I swap. Always 10k synthetic oil changes. They have all died, but none from oil related issues. 90% of mine is highway miles.
I pay to have mine changed because I can make more money working than wrenching.

I don't think I've ever went past 10k.
I go past 10 every time. 250k miles later.

I take my truck to a mom and pop shop and they ask what mileage I want on the sticker. 10k in Mobile 1 synthetic.
I also use Mobil 1 FS 10k and fifer, but usually change 5-7k miles, as I can tell when the engine starts to feel sluggish.
Great oil.
