Leaders make decisions based on data. Until data shows that employees are at risk, you run your business. Emotion has zero to do with it. Some people, like you, are not meant to make those decisions.

Lot of millennials in this thread.

Leaders who believe in "butts in seats" and "our clients expect to meet us face to face" are the opposite of leaders who make decisions on data.
They're lifelong MLB scouts vs. Sabermetrics.

Imaging thinking a CEO is good solely because he demands that his employees are physically in the office

No dumbass, they are saying to actually perform work from home and not take naps/play video games like you are probably inclined to do.

Not to mention a big ol fat piece of data that should be staring them right in the face: financial liability. We are working with some of our clients on how to deal with this, and I can tell you good leadership teams are getting out ahead of this as quickly as possible (everybody working from home who can, ramping up production if they're a manufacturer this week and next in anticipation of a complete shutdown, etc., etc.). The dipshit leaders are the ones being obstinate.
I work for one of the most travel-heavy and client-facing firms in one of the most travel-heavy and client-facing industries out there (that is, on the road 4 - 5 days per week every single week and in the office if not), and our leadership has told us to stay the F home because they're smart.

Good to see the CEO really cares about his employees

Friend,
Perhaps the two phrases in American English, which are not profanity, I dislike the most are "price point" and "as per usual." Could you email your CEO and tell him or her not to use that term anymore?
Thanks,
TulaneLSU

Our CEO has said the same basically. Here's the kicker. Our footprint is nationwide, we have offices everywhere. All our meetings are held online.
Time to come into the office!
Time to come into the office!

You have a great boss. God bless him.

I'm in medical school prepping for a pandemic to come through the hospital. Quite the opposite. Our ICU is already 75% full. Need to bump these numbers down any way possible. This boss is doing no favors for the general public. I know you don't care about that but, don't criticize people who do.

At this point, yes. For a short period of time. Enjoy the free time you have at home. Essential places should remain open but, other than that no one should feel threatened by banning large groups of people.
