Tough call. Only reason I would tell the parents is because some dumbass may shoot the kids next time they do it.

Absolutely fricking not. I was a well behaved child and knew that me being anti-social would not be tolerated.

I have kids about the same age. I would want to know if my kids were out at that time and I’d also want my kids to hear it from me and the neighbor that people protect their homes with guns around here.

Tell their parents. Even if they don’t care, they’ll at least know that their kids are being asshoes.

The threads get dumber and dumber. It’s not your fault, it’s the posters’ fault that respond. Kids and teenagers are dumb. Talk to the parents calmly ams it will be fine.

No, we haven’t all done it. And just because you did, doesn’t mean it’s harmless. Different times when you were a kid. If one of these stupid little bastards gets blasted it won’t be harmless.

It’s a 10YO. WTF is he doing out at 3am? Tell his parents. And let them know your patience with their kid and his adolescent antics has worn thin.

I’m a fan of kids getting a couple of relatively free passes on dumb stuff.

If you know the parents I might joke with them about it, just so they are aware that their kid was out at that hour.

But generally, unless you think this kid is needing serious adjustments in their life I wouldn’t make it anything remotely noteworthy. You already gave them the safety talk.

Sure, between 8a and 7p. In the middle of the night? Gfy kiddo.... it’s time for an arse whipping.

Op, buy a breed of peace and let it out next time kids do this. Just don’t let anyone know you have said peaceful creature.

Hell no, don’t tell their parents. And be cool to the kids.

Me and my brothers got caught by an old lady when we were kids. We’d ring the bell and hide in their garden or front yard. She saw us, but she never yelled or anything. She laughed about it with us, then she explained that there could be an elderly person convalescing in the house, and we could upset them.

It didn’t stop us from being little pricks, but neither would telling our parents, and we loved her from then on. If she had told on us we would have terrorized her from then on.

But this isn’t dumb stuff a 10YO should be doing. Forgetting to feed the dog is deserving of a
Pass. But a 10YO running around at 3AM and knocking on people’s doors is a good way to get a 10YO hurt.
And again, when someone shoots this little fricker cause they think some hood rat is trying a home invasion or car burglary, it’ll be a big shite show of tears and candles and stuffed teddy bears on the sidewalk cause some “a-hole gun owner” overreacted. When in reality, your stupid arse kid, whom you enabled with free passes for dumb stuff, was where he shouldn’t have been, when he shouldn’t have been and was too stupid to realize what he was doing wasn’t considered “dumb stuff” by the other person.

Don’t give them a pass. Give them direction in the form of good parenting.
