We LOVE imposing tariffs on goods from certain countries, but hate the big corp bailouts. It's weird.
This one is quite easy. Foreign governments have entered into the market and are using governmental powers to keep the market from being free. Europe, for example, price controls medications. Why should I, as a US citizen, subsidize UK health care costs? We should tariff identical amounts to what governments from other countries are extracting from us.

If you own a business, you want to ensure your labor costs are minimized
it sounds like you have no idea how cheap labor is over there for surprisingly very smart individuals who are willing to work their arse off at all hours of the night
What are you bitching about?

Frisco in McKinney
Frisco, yes. McKinney, not so much. Plano, definitely. Prosper, somewhat.
I think McKinney hasn’t been inundated like the others yet because the schools are not as highly ranked as Frisco and Plano, for example. But it’s an interesting dynamic - families that stress academics move to the school districts with higher rankings and their kids drive the rankings even higher.

It is hard to see how America is better off now that we have basically caved to international corporations. We went from a father/husband in manufacturing able to support a family to young professionals not having kids or owning homes while both working 45 hours a week.

They are OK at doing grunt work like you said, menial repetitive tasks
There must be plenty Americans who are also best fit for these roles. But the pursuit of lower wages regardless of societal costs has always been the hallmark of businesspeople. Exhibit A: slavery.

Get rid of HB1, and companies will just offshore. It's getting extremely big in the accounting industry to have "centers of excellence" or contractors of accountants in India/Lithuania/others.
Should impose some sort of "tariff" on outsourcing work as well.

Except they are nowhere near equal. I’m a Sysad and my company has a lot of Indians and every one of them is clueless. Lots have been fired for being clueless. I’ve yet to see one get hired that isn’t. It’s not just that they don’t know what they are doing, their work ethic sucks too.
They are the KINGS of faking it.

won't stop Republicans from saying we need to massively increase legal immigration and import skilled workers from other countries
There is a need for some niche tech skills and my proposed solution is to raise the floor on H1B salaries so that if you truly needed the skills that you "need" then you will hire a H1B worker not gut your entire IT department for H1B's.

It's tough because it's not always cut and dry. Anyone of any note has employees in Lux because it's Lux.

Because they want to pay people as little as humanly possible. They do not have your best interests in mind at any point, despite what the vast majority of sycophants on this website will preach.

Yup. Capitalism for every other industry but tech. Total bullshite. Supply vs demand for everything else…but hey it’s hard to get electrical engineers so instead of paying them more and incentivizing people to study that…nope, pay some Indian who will do it for less. But protect doctors, nurses, vets, dentists…you fricking name it.

There is zero protection in healthcare for anyone.

Exactly. I've noticed the ones who think that think Indians, especially H1B Indians, are equal or superior to American workers are those who don't actually work in these industries that are being taken over by Indians. They all are brainwashed and believe they are equal or superior because they had some smart Indian kid in their class once.
Sadly, its those who don't directly work in these industries that are the ones who make the decisions to hire H1Bs and lay off Americans.

As a general rule, I don't disagree.
But there are quite a few that are bright enough and hard workers .

Biggest thing I’ve seen with Indians is they absolutely refuse to ask for help or express concern if they don’t understand something. They just nod and smile when I’m explaining an issue and how to resolve it. They then completely fail trying to do it because they have no clue what I was saying or how to resolve it themselves.

They are also the kings of getting certs and still not being able to do the work.

CVS hires a ton of pharmacists through the H1B visa program. There isn’t a shortage of pharmacists, so not sure why they hire so many this way. Well, I know why. I should have said that I don’t know why they are allowed to hire so many.

Saw that Coppell High School was now over 50% Indian?
That’s probably a mix of asian and Indian to get over 50%. It is a rapid change though because I was talking to a friend who is about late 30s and went to high school in Coppell and he said they were very few Indians there at that time.
