Many will be.

NPR found one quick up at the Dallas center.

She told them she toldher son "not sitting in a hurricane again" when they got to the Dallas refuge "all these cots I told my son I don't know if I can do this."

Segment ended with she says she doesn't think she'll be returning home soon because "nothing you can do."

So yeah Katrina trash got flooded out of Houston finally. They'll just keeping letting weather push em around instead of rebuilding community.

Decade and a half.

My neighborhood last year, no one had insurance. Maybe 100+ houses hit. Down to 3ish trailers out of 20 that set up. Most are back in their homes only 3 yards not kept up. As water receded we were all gutting and trashing.

That church draws from the entire Houston area. The emergency personnel did not want people out & about unless it was an emergency.

Its not saying he should hold service. Its saying he should open it for shelter.

Why is this being frowned upon? I think he's a sleazebag but if he kept the church open people would likely end up putting themselves at risk just to get there. You're an idiot if you criticize this, sorry. No one needs to be out running around in this.

Why would anyone have a problem with that?

I remember Brother Swaggart was charging for people to stay the night after Katrina like a Holiday Inn.

I think he's a major hack and have thought it for years. I think he's as slimy as it gets and I agree with the move.

Again, he's being criticized for not opening it as a shelter for people.

Its an enormous structure that could hold hundreds of people trying to escape the water. How is that any different than any other shelter being open? Do you want them to close all shelters because it would cause people to "run around in this"?

Caveat:

I don't know if his church has taken on water. Maybe it has and is not inhabitable right now.

Caveat #2:

I don't care, I just love the fact he's catching shite

You don't have to pay. And you certainly don't have to pay anywhere near country club costs.

I'm pretty sure his church salary is in excess of $2 million annually.

I mean, it takes a very quick google to realize this isn't true. He hasn't taken a salary from the church for a few years now. He makes millions off of his books.

Too bad no one cared to look up what the church's contributions were to the effort. It's really hard for anyone to move in Houston period. Even if you wanted to help you can't drive vehicles.

For all of the shitty things to point out about Joel slime ball Osteen, this just isn't one.

I'm honestly waiting for the feds to come down on his church any day now, but this is a reach folks.

They typically they do setup different and provide services and relief in disaster times. Hmmm, I don't know.
Maybe he's waiting to see what pastor Ed Young does.

I think we should be most specific here. Not all churches are as much like a "country club" as others.

There are churches that absolutely require it's members to "donate" a certain amount. I've been in a non-dom church a friend of mine was doing IT work in. It was on a Saturday and I had to pick him up from there on the way to an LSU game.

While he was waiting for something to install he asked me to come in. He was in the pastor's office and opens up a drawer. Pulls out a folder and told me to check out what's in it. It was filled with W2s. He "asked" everyone to give him a copy so that he can tell them how much they have to "donate" in a year (10%). I seriously doubt that is the only church that does such a thing.. So call that what you want.

Dude that's a scam hiding as a church. That's not a church or a country club, just a scam.

I know of multiple churches in the Jackson/Madison, MS area that "aggressively" pursue tithing.

My brother-in-law was giving 5% and the pastor told him he needs to give more because he was a pharmacist at he knew that wasn't 10-15%. He actually quit the church because of it.

Side note: He's now an Atheist

Well, to some degree, I think religion is like crack. Take Joel Osteen for example. He basically entertains people every Sunday and it makes them feel good. They get a high that makes them feel uplifting. And because of that feeling, they want to continue to go back and those people look for more. They want more of what he is selling so they buy his books, etc, etc..

What about the churches that preach "you have to get saved if you want to go to heaven" so they go out and tell people they have to accept Jesus which means, they have to be saved and anyone who doesn't will not be part of God's kingdom..

It's almost like a MLM. You sell one person on the idea and they go out and sell 3 or 4 people, each one of them sells to 3 or 4 people and the only person that is really getting anything out of it.. Is the person on top.
