Still want UBI?
This is a wonderful test
Not really.
The companies that will not pay hazard pay will have a hard time getting people off the unemployment line for the next 4 months. The companies that will pay hazard pay will have more success.
The UBI is a replacement for all other social welfare nets.
How do you feel about social security?

Scruffy you're smart enough to know that doing this piecemeal risks dragging the crisis out much further than it otherwise would as we get caught in a game of whack-a-mole.
Not to mention the absolute long term damage we are doing to the younger generations.
For how much y’all seem to believe Trump is the authoritarian that will rival Stalin and Hitler, I am surprised that y’all are all on board with him undergoing sweeping power grabs.
Interestingly, I’m actually not on board with that.
I prefer centralized support and recommendations with state by state management.
That allows for a far more versatile approach to a changing scene.

I don't need money. The wife and I are gratefully still employed for the foreseeable future.
I want him to be a president and not the character Donald Trump. That shouldn't be too much to ask, but after 3 years I realize it's an impossible ask of this shitstain of a human being.

What did you expect? The gov’t has entered the job market at $600/week to do nothing. Lots of people will be taking that deal.

another lefty rebuttal that’s getting old quick
You're right, it is getting old. Sadly though the right is more interested in believing Hillary Clinton ran a pedophilia ring out of a pizza parlor than they are the real life issues facing our country. Most of you have been brainwashed by the right wing media machine, keeping you angry and afraid which has led to this radicalization. It's hard to watch.
Maybe if the reasonable among you had policed your own a little more that wouldn't have happened, but here we are.

Same here, i have been putting cash on the sidelines for over a year and I am now at a, do I buy a low market or do I hold on to 3 or 4 years of expenses. I think the market makes one more dip and the dow goes below 19,500 again. I will buy then.

Paying every family something like 2k per month would equal all tax revenue currently being collected. People just don't understand how unrealistic this is

NEVER is a strong statement. This is one case where it may have been warranted.

If you are hard left or hard right you are a sheep and an idiot. Make up your own mind and quit listening to the media.

You act like this board operates in a a vacuum. You have wanted trump to do more on every board, and credit the governors for “doing the heavy lifting”.
Guess what, it’s their responsibility to do that heavy lifting as it’s not the presidents job to dictate what they do. It’s the presidents job to make sure the borders are protected. Broad sweeping ordinances in a country as diverse and large as America are rarely, if ever, the right way to go.

I still want a UBI. Unemployment to the tune of nearly $40k/yr =\= UBI at $1k/mo
$1k/mo is not really enough to survive, but it is enough to cause radical change in people's spending power and boost our economy. It's enough to get the boot of poverty off of the most common worker in America. Implement UBI, fix outrageous college tuition by debloating our state schools, and make vocational/technical college free and watch our middle class explode again
If you want to have a strong country that can weather this kind of event without being on the brink, your middle class has to be strong and the backbone of your economy. Unfortunately that is not the case in the USA anymore and this kind of event is exposing that.
