NBR is basically a different city then South BR.

BR has terrible crime and schools, but for the most part, the crime is contained in certain areas. Although these areas are growing rapidly.

Public schools are fricked. Something to consider if moving with child.

Florida Blvd is basically the dividing line in SBR for crime. South of Florida is typically OK. Gardere and places like Town South are exceptions. Avoid them.

Crime is growing and soon you will need to be South of Goodwood, and sadly I imagine not long after that you will need to be South of Old Hammond.

Property values do not appreciate/depreciate in this city like in others for some reason.

The mayor is an anti-white racist and to my knowledge has not even interviewed a white person for any possible job openings. She wants to take as much money from SBR as she possibly can and waste it in NBR. Case in point the article you linked. Those houses will be desolate within 5 years.

Property taxes are relatively cheap, compared to national average , but our city government is full of criminals who waste every penny.

Sales tax is one of the highest in the entire nation.

Denham Springs is the country Suburb, Prairieville is for non-country types. Both have better public schools than BR. The question is , do you want your 12 year old boy to have a crustache and smoke cigarettes? If you answered yes, Denham is for you. If no, Pville is not too shabby.

There are some very nice, and super pricey private schools in BR. Well worth the money if you can afford it.

Ask your company about job openings in Jackson, MS or Mogadishu. Similar experience.

Where’s the job site?

A great quality of life is possible in Baton Rouge so long as:
1. You live relatively close to where you work and insulated from traffic
2. You live in a neighborhood relatively free of violent crime
3. You either do not have kids or your job pays you enough to send your kids to private schools
4. You embrace living here and taking advantage of the city’s festivals, music, arts, parks, libraries, and events around town.

Yeah, but the food in the ghetto (Tony’s, Dixie Maid, Stockyard Cafe, Belue’s, Chicken Shack, Blue Store, Deep South BBQ, etc) is worth the danger

I'm not going to lie, I miss living in BR. I've been away for almost 4 years and kind of want to go back. Its just home. Yeah, its got its drawbacks and bad spots. But its just the right blend of big city and small, with a nice rotation of coeds every year. I think I'm going to go back..

Just when you think your out they pull you back in

I despise Investar bank..they come into a community and buy up the local bank and use the deposits to fund large projects while refusing to do personal loans.
They charge fees for everything..yeah, despise is too nice a word for what I feel about them.
And yes, I'm in the process of moving everything to a locally owned bank.
I hope that they lose their arse on this project.
