i read this in the baton rouge newspaper
is this an area that is looking to be redeveloped? can a 'good deal' be found here before prices go through the roof it if takes off?
the mayor seems like she really cares about her people at least in this article.
its not a done deal that i am coming to baton rouge - have to figure out logistics with ex-wife and child but if things work out personally, the professional part will take care of itself with my job.
also, does anyone know what the qualifications are for the new bank loan program that is mentioned?

quote:
Touted as their way of reinventing how banks can drive economic development in under-served communities, Investar Bank broke ground on Tuesday on three single-family homes in north Baton Rouge — a move cheered by Mayor-President Sharon Weston Broome.
quote:
President and Investar Bank CEO John D'Angelo said the development is the bank's first foray into partnering with the city-parish on its continuing efforts to improve the pockets of poverty and blight beyond just issuing a check and letting others do the work.
quote:
Bank officials were quick to note at Tuesday's groundbreaking ceremony this won't be a rental program. The bank is working with community leaders to seek out families capable of purchasing the new homes with the help of the banks' special mortgaging options.

Hopefully you stay strapped.

Here’s a hint that should serve you well in any city. Don’t move to the same neighborhood that they’re giving free houses to poor people.

i've read a lot on this board and i have to think that many people are over exaggerating when it comes to crime and baton rouge. certainly it can't be that bad. it seems like the city has a good mayor as she appointed her own police chief from what i have gathered. has to be tough on crime, right?

Makes you wonder how much government kickbacks this Investar Bank is getting for doing this. Otherwise its a guaranteed money loser.

Does "poverty" mean "politicians" these days?

Our mayor is a clown. South BR is mostly fine though with a few exceptions. Just stay out of NBR.

If you’re a Canadian Democrat, you’ll be welcomed home, Lincoln family.
