So you live in something nicer than "middle of the road" like the PoS Jindal bought?

All of this to say, if your mortgage is supposed to be no more than 2.5x your annual salary, how did Jindal get the scratch, legitimately, for an $817,000 house? Hell, he'd have to have almost a year's salary in cash just to close with a regular mortgage.

I don't make close to what Jindal makes and my house is more expensive than his. Its not hard to do.

I would really like to hear how you have a 900 - million house making less than 130k a year. Unless you had a down payment of 50% you would be on the edge of not being able to qualify.

It may be 6115 under roof but it is just barley under 4000 living. Nothing really fancy and actually quite modest.

only on the OT is a 4000sq ft home considered modest

$800k will generally buy a decent single family home here but not an impressive one.

You can get a nice waterfront home here for that. Not a mansion, but 5 br, 3ba waterfront.

He sold his previous home before he moved into the mansion.

The guy could easily put up 400K.

I wasn't talking about Jindal. My post was directed at the poster who claimed it was easy to have a million dollar home making less than $130K a year. I realize it's possible but not easy. The insurance and property taxes alone would be 10K a year at a minimum.

Dude is fos. If so, he could become a mega millionaire teaching millions of middle class how to pull that off. On 130k after taxes, health insurance and a modest 401k allotment you're bring about 80k. The note on a 500k house is nearing 3k not counting insurance and property taxes. Maybe if you ride a bike, have no furniture, go nowhere and feed your family ramen noodles everyday.

You really think all he's going to make now that he's out of government is 130k? He's going to lobby or something else and make four times that much. You people are dense. Plus if he cleared 80k a year for 8 years without any expenses he could almost pay for that house in cash.

A lot of stupid fricks in this thread. For two terms he lived on the citizens dime and prior to that he had a congressional salary and his wife had a salary. He sold a small house in Kenilworth and bought a bigger on Highland Road then sold that and made money.

His family has money. Her family has money. He will write a book, get paid for speaking engagements, have a government pension, consult, probably invited to be a member of certain boards and think tanks.

This house is peanuts for him and was bought so his kids can continue in school and both his and her family are here. He will use BR as a base and make tons of money.

And just so everyone feels OT good FWIW if anyone wants to borrow money, even that kind of mortgage, believe me there are truckloads of mortgage companies out there that will lend it to you 2007-2010 be damned. Just have a pulse and apply. And read The Big Short.

No problem, he won't be in LA very much. However he no longer has the LSP to haul his sorry arse all around the country on our dollar.

the guy you are responding to wasn't talking about Jindal... he was calling out threeputt for his bullshite statement that he has less income than Jindal and a more expensive house....
