It’s also noted that when he was stabbed in the side, blood and water flowed from the wound, proving he was in fact dead (John 19:31-37)

He was nailed to the cross late Friday afternoon
Jewish day starts at sundown. Christ was hung on the cross about 6 to 6.5 hours before sundown. He had to be dead before sundown bc he 100% had to die on passover.
quote:probably pretty quickly. the two who did this were most likely on the Sanhedrin council or knew the high priest pretty well.
When did they take him off the cross and transport him to the tomb?
quote:I'm glad you agree he died.
He apparently wasn’t dead for too long since he rose from the dead Sunday morning

One of your weaker troll threads. Not saying much I guess

This thread is an obvious troll.

What is great about social media is it gives some people the forum to prove to all how ignorant they can be in an age where all information is essentially at their fingertips.
The correct verbiage is "on the third day", not three days later.

When was he pronounced dead?
quote:“And at the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice…and breathed His last” The ninth hour was 3pm. He was taken down and in the tomb by that night, it was against Jewish law to prepare a body on the sabbath.
When did they take him off the cross and transport him to the tomb?

quote:No, tgrbaitn08, it was all one big hoax that all the perpetrators stuck to, even when they were being tortured and persecuted to uphold the lie.
Was he ever even actually dead?

Likely suffocation.
Yep. Likely a combination of trauma and blood loss that led to exhaustion on the cross. You have the press yourself upward to be able to breathe and after the scourging and beatings, he didn’t have the energy to continue to lift himself. Suffocation and exhaustion killed him at least from a physical perspective.
ETA: here’s a JAMA link on his death.

quote:
Jesus of Nazareth underwent Jewish and Roman trials, was flogged, and was sentenced to death by crucifixion. The scourging produced deep stripelike lacerations and appreciable blood loss, and it probably set the stage for hypovolemic shock, as evidenced by the fact that Jesus was too weakened to carry the crossbar (patibulum) to Golgotha. At the site of crucifixion, his wrists were nailed to the patibulum and, after the patibulum was lifted onto the upright post (stipes), his feet were nailed to the stipes. The major pathophysiologic effect of crucifixion was an interference with normal respirations. Accordingly, death resulted primarily from hypovolemic shock and exhaustion asphyxia. Jesus' death was ensured by the thrust of a soldier's spear into his side. Modern medical interpretation of the historical evidence indicates that Jesus was dead when taken down from the cross.

Well he’s trolling but the timing is likely wrong.
I lean Wednesday crucifixion, or possibly Thursday. Not a chance it was Friday.

Correct. And they didn't have time to prepare the body before sundown, which is why they came back Sunday morning.

He was nailed to the cross late Friday afternoon
According to the Gospel of Mark 15:25, Jesus was crucified at 9AM.
Granted, there may be some uncertainty as to what part of crucifixion this refers to, i.e., first nail or last nail or other but Jesus was on the Cross before Friday afternoon.
Also, bear in mind Jesus had been flogged beforehand. This would entail being beaten with a whip that had pieces of bone or metal affixed. The method was to strike, get the bone/metal to to grip into the tissue, then give it a jerk to shred someone's tissue from their body and bones. In some cases, it was part of the Roman's capital punishment process.
It is borderline incredulous to think Jesus did not actually die on the Cross.
The Bible as well as secular sources confirm that the man Jesus died. I think only Islam teaches he didn't die.
