I don't think we have the same definition of 'upper class'

word on the street is they have a very strong idea it was someone from a white gang. but no proof.
if you ask me, the chief of the volunteer fire department had something to do with it. whoever reported the fire, called his cell phone directly. but he says he didn't know who it was.
I agree. The linked article about the gang arrests has now been updated to include names and the gangs that were represented. All appear to have something in common.

District Attorney John Champion said the roundup started around 4 a.m. in Oxford. FBI Agents targeted suspected members of the Black Gangster Disciples, Vice Lords, and Sipp Mob street gangs, after gathering intelligence on their suspected criminal activity from local law enforcement and community members weary of the violence in their neighborhoods.

"Gathering intelligence" from street gangs is a pretty damn good oxymoron.

These are some pretty dumb gang names. Reminds me of that episode of the Regular Show where Mordecai runs into The Wickets; a gang who was obsessed with croquet.

They're no Zion City Smurfs, that's for sure.

The suspect must be in jail in Louisiana, right? Why would the DA announce a murder indictment not yet being "served"? Surely a warrant was issued and that would remain sealed until the suspect was arrested? To serve him sounds like he must already be in custody and a Writ of Habeas Corpus was issued to get the guy. Extradition process will take a while, correct?

It's one thing to take a gun and shoot somebody; but the level of depravity required to set a conscious person on fire and leave them to burn alive is terrifying. This person or persons is walking around, buying groceries... and is ready and willing to do something like this, or worse, at anytime.
Not really. If I walked into a room and my daughter was just killed after being raped, I would be thinking of something much worse than fire for the murderer. Might make a sick and twisted individual but under those circumstances, I would no longer be sane.

I followed this case very closely for many months after it happened. Without question, every official in that town is as corrupt as you'll find. Especially the DA. They know exactly who did it and have for a long time. But because they are so deeply intertwined with the drug dealers and criminals in the town, they will never be able to file charges in this case. It will go unsolved for "lack of evidence." I'd be more than shocked if the initial mishandling of evidence wasn't intentional. Sad situation.
I've seen corrupt small town law enforcement from a very close vantage point and while they might sabotage a case to cover their asses I just can't see them letting this kind of brutality go with no consequences. Instead of a high profile court case it just might end with a couple of gang members dead in a ditch and a story that never gets told.

Suspect Named: Quinton Verdell Tellis

I'm against the death penalty but I'd make an exception for the people who did this.
