He is a good singer but his vocals and music don't fit in with traditional country music. A fish out of water.

He fits in now because Nashville country music of today sounds awful.

I remember when they said the same thing about Waylon, and Willie and Johnny.

Just saw this post from the 29th. Tickets actually went for presale on the 27th with a code from his official site. When I saw he was coming to Nola, I went to his site and entered my email to sign up for a code to be emailed to me.
I bought two about an hour after that presale started, and their were only about 50% of the tickets still available then.

Gatekeeping musical genres is an exercise in futility that only Don Quixote could enjoy. Musicians are a creative lot and genre-bending comes naturally to them. I will say that outside of Bluegrass, the devotees of Country are the most protective of what they define as fitting the genre. It makes life easier to just enjoy what you like and forget about labels. There are very few sub-genres of music that I can't find at least something I like. The good thing about music is it never dies. I can listen to Night Train to Memphis by Roy Acuff right now if I like.

We got floor seats for the Lafayette show on Sept 13. I’ve been listening to him for years on YouTube back when he was still rapping and nobody knew he would become what he is now. I’ll take the White Trash stigma, and I don’t care.

You seriously don't know Jelly Roll? I like music so I keep up with new music, not all of it like I used to, but Jelly Roll grew up white trash. He was a drug dealer, went to jail. Started off as a rapper.

10 mins of him freestyling right after getting out of jail.

Youtube

This is Jelly Roll earlier this year in front of congress talking about the addiction problem in this country.

Youtube

This is the song he has a solo of and one version that features Lainey Wilson.

Youtube

He is married to a former porn star. You listen to him talk you cant help but like him..

I'd venture to say your perspective and the number of upvotes it's received thus far is a more disturbing indication that the United States is on the decline.

The dude was a bad kid/teenager and as an adult he spent a year in prison before being paroled. Turned his life around and finds success in the music industry and the OT shits on him like "frick that guy. He sucks."

y'all are some frickin retards.

Exactly.. These people are fricking dreamer... A bunch of moon kiters. I've heard him on Theo Vonn's podcast and on Rogan and he seems as genuine as you can get. Music evolves. God forbid it changes from what it was when they were younger.

They look at him, he is a big guy.. face tattoos.. "he is trash". People sound ignorant when they comment about shite they know nothing about. If you read a thread and don't know much about the topic.. Move on. Not the idiots on this board

Some wisdom in this thread. I learned this as a DJ at KCPI in the vinyl days when we got new stacks of random promos in weekly. Discovering new music I liked back then was a quest that I still pursue to this day.

I haven't dove deeply into Jelly Rolls' music and from what I've heard it's not at the top of the list. But it doesn't bother me if it's called Country, or if Jelly Roll becomes (or already is) the new face of Nashville. Or if he had some great story overcoming obstacles and testified at Congress. All that matters is do I like his music

Now if someone gave me a ticket to his concert, I'm guessing I'd enjoy myself as obviously he's a good entertainer.

But even so, you'll still be hearing Junior Brown or Dale Watson pumping through the Cerwin Vegas in the shop while I'm under a car, not Jelly Roll.

CIA psyops to indoctrinate the weak men into accepting their spouse working as prostitutes. Absolutely nothing about this is real. Nerd Culture 2.0 the white trash reboot.

I’m pretty confident these are same people who go to Nickelback & Creed concerts.

Don't ever put Nickelback and Creed in the same sentence w/Jelly Roll again. And quit thinking that nobody likes those two bands. I have no qualms saying that I like both, they both had some bangers, and I have no problem admitting it.

Supposedly he was an addict living in a van when they got together so I doubt he was in the position to be picky.
