Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos added a record $13 billion to his fortune on Monday amid a coronavirus-fueled boom for his e-commerce empire.

A 7.9 percent jump in Amazon’s stock price helped the world’s richest man notch the largest one-day increase to any individual’s net worth in the history of Bloomberg’s Billionaires Index, which tracks the fortunes of the wealthiest people on Earth.

Bezos, 56, is now worth $189.3 billion — making him more valuable than major corporations such as McDonald’s, Exxon Mobile and Nike, according to Bloomberg.

The tech tycoon has added $74.4 billion to his wealth so far this year amid a 73 percent surge in Amazon’s stock price. The conglomerate has benefitted from increased demand for online shopping as lockdowns meant to control the COVID-19 pandemic shut consumers in their homes.

To show how much money $189.3 billion in, if Bezos spent $1,000,000 day, it would take him almost 519 years to spend it all

If he invested the whole thing and got just a 4% return on his investment, he would earn $7.6 billion a year. That $7.6 billion in interest would allow him to spend $20.7 million a day without ever touching the $189.3 billion

I know people joke about "Such and such has more money than they could ever spend.." but seriously, how could you spend 190 billion dollars?

At $10,000 a night, you could hire 2,000 high end hookers and still have $700k left to spend on blow

This is why he doesn't give a shite that Seattle residents loot his stores.

China Flu has probably benefited Amazon more than any other business.

I wouldn’t be surprised at all if we learned that Bezos was responsible for the whole damn COVID thing... what better way can you think of to increase “home/internet shopping” besides a pandemic that precludes people from going to shop at brick-and-mortar stores?
