A decent chunk of it is company stok
Decent chunk as in 95+% His surging net worth is 100% due to surging Amazon.

And he probably isn’t the richest person on earth, only the richest we know about.

If he invested the whole thing and got just a 4% return on his investment, he would earn $7.6 billion a year. That $7.6 billion in interest would allow him to spend $20.7 million a day without ever touching the $189.3 billion
It is invested. He owns the controlling interest in AMZN equity. His net worth is tied directly to the Amazon stock price.
This isn't liquid wealth. Were he to sell a significant portion on the open market to raise cash, it would put a selling pressure on the stock. This would drive the stock price down and this his net worth as well.

Do you think people will continue to just buy this crazy level of stuff online once this is over?
I think it's pretty clear herd immunity will be upon us very soon.
They'll be small outbreaks in rural areas. But, overall things are going to die down.
I realize Amazon has other businesses such as web services etc. But, it just seems this huge jump in value is a short term COVID result.
BTW, I'm not going to "short" any stock. I will not underestimate ROBINHOOD "investors" creating insane values detached from reality.

I know people joke about "Such and such has more money than they could ever spend.." but seriously, how could you spend 190 billion dollars?
You really can’t. Besides, that’s what he’s worth in total assets. Not liquid cash. But yeah. That’s an inconceivable amount of money.

The much maligned “robber barons” and tycoons of the Industrial Age found lots of ways to spend their money, the bulk of it, on public works.
Libraries, hospitals, churches universities, parks, foundations, you name it.
Truthfully, these rich guys need to stop donating to virtue signaling organizations and focus on basic public works and charities again, not that Bezos doesn’t actually do just that. I’m speaking generally. I have no idea how he spends his money.

Good for him. I think he's projected to hit 1 trillion by 2026

That's enough for 3 or 4 Ford class aircraft carriers fully staffed with airplanes and helicopters for 20 years

He doesn’t have $190 billion in cash. His assets (his shares in Amazon) are worth that amount. It’s a question that can’t be answered because it’s not even a question.

Blue Origin could definitely do it.

To show how much money $189.3 billion in, if Bezos spent $1,000,000 day, it would take him almost 519 years to spend it all

We badly need a Brewster's Millions remake but with like $30 billion and no more than $1 billion can be spent on hookers and blow.
