Yes, this is 'Merica, but it has been, can be and will be done if necessary. We all have our rights, but we all do not have the right to infringe others' rights. When your right to move about freely becomes an endangerment upon the rights of the whole, there is nothing illegal about restricting your movement. It has happened in the past, has been upheld by the courts, and if everyone does not at least try to make it appear that they are social distancing, etc. The government will take action. They literally keep begging and pleading at every press conference for everyone to take it upon yourself to limit interactions but people keep ignoring them.

Not all of them. No.

Absolutely not. I absolutely do not want more restrictions.

Not sure where you got your info from.

The problem is that they can’t order a shelter in place in just Orleans if they don’t include surrounding parishes it’s worthless. That’s why the counties surrounding SF joined in.

Why would it be?

the assumption/discussion is that it's going to happen

This should never happen.

we can discuss this on a philosophical level where i'll fully agree with you, but in reality, it's going to happen

And certainly not for this.

imagine NOT living in Orleans/JP and having to be sheltered in place when it isn't even needed here

Do you leave your house anyway?

No. I never go anywhere.

Just because I am saying what I am saying doesn't mean that I like what is going on. It sucks that everything is being cancelled, that there is no sports, that I can't go to the store anytime I want to get certain items all because people are completely irrational and selfish that they are buying too much of certain items for themselves.. Like a can of lysol, which I needed.. Not out of fear of the coronoavirus, but because I used up the last can I had and needed a new one.

My whole point is that freaking out, bitching and complaining isn't going to help anything. Or maybe it will.. If so, let me know. And I do realize that this is something that the governor, president, etc wants to do. I am sure some of you idiots have some kind of conspiracy theory as to why government officials are doing what they are doing, but because I am being somewhat realisitic about this.. It's because I don't go anywhere.

From now on, if I ever get the chance to go out in the next month I will wear this.

it hasn't been about new cases for a long time

it's about potential spread, ER capacity, and variables related to ER usage

i mean "it's going to happen" as in "the state government is going to keep making orders on paper"

i have no idea what actually happens in terms of executing those plans
