100% truth -- I sent this question with others to his "send a question" email and none of mine got answered.

He said straight up we're 7 days towards meeting the phase 1 guidelines. 7 days from now is April 29th.

Maybe for today, but up to this point he has been cryptic as frick when asked the question. Like he's too chickenshit to commit to an answer. If he committed today, I certainly wouldn't take that very far.

It’s not a bad theory. It would still be nice to have some clue as to what he sees as “the finish line”, though.

He doesn't see one. He will sell people on how next winter everything will get even worse. I think he sees this as a break in an awfully long and drawn out marathon that he has zip of a clue about. Federal dollaz.

like I said previously, its because he knows people would treat it as open today if he said with confidence that we would be open on May 1st

he is going to continue to be firm/fear monger till right up till the end, so people take the SAH order serious

I wonder which state is going to be "Civil War South Carolina" and just starts saying frick it come May 1st if this phasing stuff works against certain businesses and individuals. By which state I mean its citizens and not its government. Michigan? Us? Certainly not NY.

I'm good with that answer. But at the same time, we're all adults here. No need to treat us like children. None of the other governors have been that way.

Biggest takeaway is that we are halfway to phase 1.

This is ludicrous. We are 20 days on the decline. So if we are only halfway, we will not open up until May 12th.

Who the funk is “They”?

Google, Apple various Apps that you have on your phone, and 3rd party companies like Cuebiq. Facebook and Amazon are probably listening to us. Facebook, Twitter et al... might have been designed as social media platforms but now they have become data collection platforms.

This isn't really new, they've been doing it for years to gather data.

Oh, and of course, the government is capable as well.

?

You mean fully open up or phase 1?

I don't like the way the phased opening dictates what we can do and when, but I'll take what I can get. I never expected JBE to rescind the April 30th deadline.

He won’t let the state fully reopen until late May so he can control the legislative session and limit them to only matters related to the budget. Got to cram his new Covid tax package down their throats. And none of that terrible tort reform stuff he was going to have to veto.

it will be a lot more difficult to shut things down again once we begin reopening

and JBE knows that, which is probably why he is reluctant to reopen sooner

Youre a blithering idiot, yet again

We never reached half medical capacity, and now we have a significant part of the state population exposed. Plus, we are entering the season of the year where the virus goes dormant

No way in hell we see another Mardi Gras spike this summer, even if we are blowing and going like the entire state was at Mardi Gras

Heads of state monitoring its citizens ? Sounds like The Twilight Zone or The Darkside episodes. How are we letting this happen ?

How do you figure we are 20 days into the decline? You've said this over and over in multiple threads on at least two boards. The data is at the top of this thread and we're only 9 days removed from peak hospitalizations. Is that the metric they're looking at?

What do we have 20 days of decline in?

Phase 1 guidelines say a decline in new documented cases. Over the last 20 days we have seen a decrease in new documented cases. This is saying the spread has slowed down for 20 days now which was the whole point of the stay at home/shelter in place order. (14 days is all that was recommended)

quote:

Among the boxes that must be checked are a decline of documented COVID-19 cases within a 14-day period and a robust testing program in place for at-risk healthcare workers.

This is from the Whitehouse.

I swear when he starts the inevitable pitty parade around the state all gloom and doom telling us all we need to chip in and bail out this administration yet again with more taxes despite having the largest effective tax rate in the country, I’m going to shite in a bunch of brown paper bags and light them on fire on the front porch of every person I personally know that gave me that “he’s a moderate” sob story during the election.
