How hard can it be to put a unified focus on cleaning out storm drains and repairing or replacing damaged pumps?

I’m asking genuinely because it seems to me to be pretty fixable issue if the right directives are in place?

They’re likely more concerned about advising illegal aliens about their “rights.”

I’m waiting for the news to start reporting about the new assessments which increase a lot of people’s property taxes.

Can someone access historical data that would show, say, how many 7plus inch rains NO has had in last 50 years. A tall task, I know,

I'm pretty sure they blame white people for climate change, so if climate change is the reason for flooding...

I don’t know current stats but it’s like 72,000 drains in the system and 4(?) cleaning trucks. At least after the August floods I’m near positive of that. I don’t recall the average maintenance time (cleaning, repairing etc...) but it was substantial

Roll in that they feed to broken pipes

And the pumps are an obscene project

And they claim to be near bankrupt at SWB.

I do think the solution is a challenge.

But coming out and saying lightning, and climate change instead of acknowledging ancient broken systems and poor decision making is a huge disservice. In the “if you don’t laugh you’ll cry” category - it came out they overflowed the Lafitte canal by over pumping into it and flooded a bunch of stuff over there. I’m talking consistently overtopping for an hour. When asked about it - the way the building is set up makes it so they can’t see what they are pumping into without going outside and could really use some cameras or sensors instead of just guessing.

We don’t have to radically change the system to get an inch or two off the top of these floods and that saves millions in damage.

If they benefit from the status quo why would they want honest government where they would have to earn their way?

Good thing we have Latoya and her weather machine to literally prevent rain from falling from the sky. That’s how she saved us last week!

It's been flooding since before 1718.

I'd offer that it's flooding less in the last 30-50 yrs.

So they didn’t want to walk outside to check the water level?

You mean like blowing up the levees in black populated areas during a major hurricane? Who would dream of making an accusation like that?

How fricking ironic is it that Baton Rouge and New Orleans have governmental frick ups with the initials SWB?

Apparently so.

Which I want to give benefit of the doubt and say they were less worried about getting wet but didn’t want to leave the controls... but knowing how little they have there, it’s hard to do it

That kind of comment is going to cause a massive outflow of property owners. If they're literally willing to tell the citizens to "deal with it" then they're throwing in the towel. There's no hope.

Why would anyone want to invest their money in a city that's given up?
