I hate Latoya, but crawling a mile over broken glass to replace one tax cheat with another who is soft as toilet paper on crime seems like a huge sacrifice that would yield no significant positive results other than not having to see and hear Latoya anymore.

I think this makes conviction of someone on something more likely.

For sure thought they'd be acquitted today. It's either hung or guilty this point forward.

He will get at least a few guilty I think. My bet is a compromise in the group to hang a few charges on him but not all.

They’ll come in with a verdict tomorrow and take Friday off.

At this point, you may be wanting to swap a dumb criminal with an educated one.

Intuition is telling me this is going to be a hung jury.

Among other things, he never spoke to the accountant himself, pretty much ever. He never directed any action, directly.

Imagine believing either of those things

The accountant would have said it if he did.

He let his partner handle everything.

He clearly was fully aware of the scheme and is guilty as frick. I think you missed my point.

Yep. Which is why the feds love to use the conspiracy charge. It allows them to introduce hearsay. The goal is to get the direct evidence against the “smaller” defendant to stick to the “bigger” defendant.

He did not got an accomplished CPA. He went to a guy working out of his house on the Westbank. He knew.

Sad part is he will walk after the jury hangs because one or two jurors will buy the setup claims and ignore the obvious.

Jury looking for packets that Burdette brought to Timothy. Asked judge for them, then found them on their own.

This jury is digging in.

I predict a verdict today at 3 pm.

Who the hell knows?

I think Burdett is more vulnerable than Williams.

My best guess when the jury retired was acquittal. Now I am leaning toward one guilty count against Williams and more than that against Burdette.

But again, experience has taught me that you never can tell.

We only need one count against this dude for him to lose his license and be out the door. Just one.

Must be unanimous.

Rule 31

The jury must return its verdict to a judge in open court. The verdict must be unanimous.

Throwing all of this away

It's so many charges each. They will likely each have guilty and not guilty verdicts.
