Not guilty or hung jury

He did a very good job giving himself plausible deniability for his scumbag actions, the IRS did a sloppy job on the investigation, and the US Attorney's office got out-lawyered.

It sucks. But he didn't take the deal and looks like he's going to win out. Will still have to pay a lot of back taxes though

How can there be plausible deniability for ones own tax returns?

Consider the back taxes a form of reparations.

Jason Williams is exactly what New Orleans wants, exactly who they voted for, and who will vote for again.

That's the way it is and there's never going to be any changing it.

Among other things, he never spoke to the accountant himself, pretty much ever. He never directed any action, directly. He can simply insinuate he trusted a professional and his partner, and the professional committed fraud and he was unaware.

There's more to it than that but he was pretty smart about it. The tax preparer also fraudulently held himself out as a CPA and wasn't.

Ultimately you are responsible for what you sign, but that might not matter to the jury.

Federal cases are usually airtight. I'm kind of surprised.

The only positive thing that the prosecution has going for it is that this is a Federal jury, & Federal juries are not the same "culture' as State juries. That's how the Feds finally got EWE after 2 State juries found him not guilty.

I know federal trials have high conviction rates, but I have felt this entire time that he will be found not guilty. Im hoping im wrong.

again, I'm just going off of what other lawyers that are in the know and have followed it closer are telling me.

A lot of them now feel that they thought he would fold like everyone else and didn't, and while they had a decent case, they didn't have a slamdunk.

Everyone could be wrong and he could be fricked.
