Mother nature is unreal, all those fools who think WE can control the weather have no clue.

We don't have gills and we damn sure can't drink all that water.

The lack of understanding of our place on the planet and the cosmos is comical.

The worst part is seeing drivers and pedestrians taking no or little evasive action. Either they don't know, or do know and have left their fate up to pure chance.

So, if you're in the middle of fricking, do you stop during the earthquake or just enjoy the ride?

Unless filming Blair Witch vids...

Seriously, there has to be some lost vids out there of those thinking they were taking killer footage for social media, only to be proven 100% right.

At 34:07 people are running for their lives....some don't make it.

The bravest were the old guys who volunteered to go into the nuke plant, so young people did not have to risk their lives.

Japanese seniors volunteer for Fukushima 'suicide corps'

This tsunami highlights the difference in people.

This hit Japan and they had it cleaned up on Thursday.

The 2010 Haiti earthquake still looks like it hit yesterday in much of Haiti.

I remember watching footage from helicopters the night it happened. Seeing cars trying to outrun the wall of water, most of them eventually getting caught up in the debris and carried off.

Tsunamis like that are an insanely destructive force.

I suspect the wave height varied a lot depending on the geography.

quote:

The Tohoku tsunami produced waves up to 40 meters (132 feet) high,

https://education.nationalgeographic.org/resource/tohoku-earthquake-and-tsunami/

quote:

It was the most powerful earthquake ever recorded in Japan, and the fourth most powerful earthquake recorded in the world since modern seismography began in 1900.[32][33][34] The earthquake triggered powerful tsunami waves that may have reached heights of up to 40.5 meters (133 ft) in Miyako in Tohoku's Iwate Prefecture,[35][36] and which, in the Sendai area, traveled at 700 km/h (435 mph)[37] and up to 10 km (6 mi) inland.[38] Residents of Sendai had only eight to ten minutes of warning, and more than a hundred evacuation sites were washed away.[37] The snowfall which accompanied the tsunami[39] and the freezing temperature hindered rescue works greatly;[40] for instance, Ishinomaki, the city with most deaths,[41] was 0 °C (32 °F) as the tsunami hit.[42] The official figures released in 2021 reported 19,759 deaths,[43] 6,242 injured,[44] and 2,553 people missing,[45] and a report from 2015 indicated 228,863 people were still living away from their home in either temporary housing or due to permanent relocation.[46]
