Well, if you’re being intellectually honest it shows that you still mitigate risk although you cannot prevent it. The city still floods, homes still get destroyed.
You seem to be an all or nothing type of person, risk mitigation isn’t about preventing every scenario

Why do we "need" to do anything in response to a random act of terror? I'm more concerned that he was able to get bombs in place that would have been much more devastating than the vehicle was

It demonstrated a flaw in current preventative measures.
At the very minimum, fixing the flaw would mitigate that.
As well as mitigate other things beyond simple safety protocols.

It’s so commonplace that it’s already enacted in the area. Just updating the system, which already has been in place nearly a decade.
Plopping in like 6 extra bollards potentially is too far a bridge to cross here?

sigh, again, just how far out do we fix the flaw? And why are you ok with risking other crowded areas where ever you decide to not protect?
And why let Mardi Gras happen at all? That's a way bigger risk than anything in the FQ
