Does Scruffy truly believe that there aren’t people who take working from home very seriously and are effective at doing so?
I thought Scruffy was smarter than that.

why would you want to hire an undisciplined slob ?
I wouldn’t and you’re assuming I would to base your argument on.
If they thought the overall net was a positive working from home, they would do it. Apparently they don’t. Their opinion matters. Not yours.
Again why? Because they pay your arse and they are no longer desperate for employees. Daddy Gov is no longer paying workers not to work during Covid. Power briefly shifted to employees. Now it’s shifting back where it normally is. Management has power now.
I’ll repeat myself to be specific: Their opinions matter on the net outcome and how they view metrics. Not employees.

What’s the difference in that, and ‘ol baw scrolling on TD, setting fantasy lineups, watching tik tok in his office.
Not a thing. Employers shouldn’t be worried about what employees do in the down time, as long as their work is getting done to the requirements of the job.
Disagree?

Your post is exactly why WFH is going to be minimized in the future.
The " I'll call you backs" and slow responses to emails and/or texts; management has had enough.
These fraudsters don't want to give up doing nothing at home

Absolutely moronic take .
First of all, i dont know how you can speak with such authority about shite you know nothing about.. they dont “pay my arse”, im a self-employed business owner - inB4 ‘nice landscaping/grass-cutting business !!’.. but I spent many years as a paid employee, fortunately most of it working remotely/in the field way before it was the norm…. second, as has been pointed out earlier in the thread- a huge part, maybe THE biggest part of all this- is that the commercial real estate industry is suffering with office buildings that have been at less than full capacity.. apparently they’ve got the likes of you pretty well fooled though, as if it’s some morality or character thing to commute to the office, and sit under fluorescent lighting while having to share a bathroom with trashy coworkers… with your love and devotion to Big Daddy MegaCorp, you’re no better than the big daddy govt types .

It’s worse than that.
They determine their value and self worth by sitting in a specific geographical location dictated to them by their employer because they’ve been brainwashed to believe that’s what work is.

You’re the idiot along with some others. I didn’t say if I agree with it. What I said was “THEIR” opinion matters. Not employees. If they deem it’s better off for the company for employees to come to work that is what will happen. Nothing you can do except take the risk and demand you work from home. Hey try it out.
If work from home meant bigger profits they would do it. Yall don’t seem to get that it’s their decision and not yours.
Another thing they have to consider is they pretty much have to treat everyone the same or else they get hit with suits. So if they lose a few good workers by bringing everyone in, that’s part of the equation. You’re just a cog in a big machine. Your opinion is worthless.
And learn reading comprehension FFS.

I mean, that's the only way to get it really clean.
I've learned my lesson.
My first job, they fired me for sticking it in the pickle slicer.
They fired her, too, but still...

How in the world did you discover this?
I didn't, he worked in another department. But I think he was slow turning in work, slow to respond to emails and teams and his manager drove to his home and found him in the pool. Watched a couple of days, checked his next time sheet and that was it.
