I own a Jaguar XE 2017, that has been very solid and reliable for me an a 2004 XK8 prior to this one. However, it will be the last Jaguar I own. Too bad for what was once a prestige car now a "woke joke".

British car manufacturing being what it is, they have also produced some of the best looking and most iconic cars of all time

Jaguar used the same silky smooth Inline-6 for 49yrs, mechanical was not the issue...it was electrical issues.

She said she wanted a Jaguar since she was a teenager and since her and her husband could afford it, they decided to buy one.. I remember her saying it was the worst purchase she ever made.

This was true in the 70's and 80's. Ford bought them and reinvested in their cars and factories big time - it was a long term play, Ford wanted this to last forever. When 2009 hit, Ford had to sell stuff to keep out of bankruptcy and Jaguar was worth selling. But those cars made under Ford were pretty good cars. Maybe 1996-2010. Who knows what happened under Tata, the new owner. But Tata has not looked at this like Ford did and it showed.

The fact they went all electric didn’t help either….

They went all-in on full electric cars and the rainbow alphabet DEI marketing well after it was very clear both had peaked and were receding.

Not to mention that "full electric Jaguar" sounds like about as good an idea as "boat made completely out of sugar."

That's because they're shitty cars. In the late-80's/early-90's we had a local Chevrolet dealer that made a cottage industry out of dropping Chevy motors into relatively new Jaguars whose engines had shite the bed. I have a good friend that has 2022 F-Type that I'm begging her to sell before the warranty runs out.

Jaguar has been a crappy car for decades... Beautiful design.. everything else is shite. And costs a fortune (even with today's standards) to maintain...

I thought the new logo and new cars looked rad but I agree the ad campaign itself was way too Globohomo for even Europe

That ad looks like those AI Balenciaga movie spoofs.

When ford bought them, the factory equipment was soo old that there wasn't a single gap that matched on the body panels. They basically had to rebuild the company, engineering, tech, etc. What is Jaguar? Typically British.

Most of their sales were probably to Waymo.

They've been a shite brand for 40 years.

All British cars are shite. Unless you are a mechanic and like the idea of removing engines and rebuilding them on a 25K rotation. They are gorgeous machines but they are and always have been crap.

My dad had an etype back in the day. Said it was a huge piece of shite.

Still a beautiful piece of shite (this is not it)

Ford said there wasnt anything wrong with their factory that a bulldozer wouldn't cure.

Ford turned them into a pretty reliable brand for awhile. I owned two; a 2010 that my wife dearly loved, and a 2015 that I loved. Both of them were fast and dependable.

When TATA bought them, it was the beginning of the end.

I was in the Navy with a guy that had a V12 e-type. Beautiful car, but it was an electrical nightmare.

They’ve fired their ad agency for that abomination of a commercial they did, but its too late.

Agencies are hired to be fired. The terrible brand leads need someone to pin the blame on for their horrific ideas.

That said, this is relevant to the discussion...

Yes, Jaguar has largely stopped selling new cars in Europe, including the UK, as part of its transition to an all-electric lineup. This is part of a broader strategy to discontinue all internal combustion engine models and relaunch with a new portfolio of all-electric vehicles in 2026

The funny thing is that a lot of automakers have backtracked on their EV goals and are leaning into ICE again. I don't see how Jag survives this.
