Tbh i was a little surprised to read that .. i thought for sure he’d be in his 80s by now .. he has been around for a LONG time .

My favorites of his are probably Tender is the Night.. followed by Somebody’s Baby .

Or as I sometimes say, there's nothing you can criticize me for that I haven't already beaten myself up over.

Obviously the average age of this board must be 65+ now. The songs and people referenced are mostly older than my parents.

I am Gen X, but i dont care how old you are - if you are someone who is into music, or even if you just like music- then you should be familiar with Jackson Browne .. he was a pioneer of the “California Country” Eagles-type sound .. it’s not like he was in some obscure indie band or something .

Well, he was 17 when he was running up 101 in 65.

“In ‘69, i was 21”…. How long has JB been around ? That song (Running on Empty) was prominently featured in Forrest Gump over 30 years ago.. and it was *already* an old classic rock tune when it was featured in that film .

There's a great Laurel Canyon documentary on Prime with an MGM subscription It is two 120 minute episodes. with interviews and home movies of the musicians.

Terrible, terrible news - and a horrible bookend to his mother's suicide.

Jackson Browne is without question the greatest of the American singer/songwriters (of that era) but really, of all time. Those first 4 albums are deep and classic. He combined great lyricism with spectacular instrumentation and captivating songwriting.

It doesn't get better than this:

The greatest meditation on death and dying ever. This was memorably and famously played at Belushi's funeral.

It was a Gretch Clipper, which was an entry level, guitar with a single pickup for,the period early 60s. It needed some work he said he had a guy in LA that could, handle,it no problem. We agreed on a price and he gave me some, tickets to his show with Tom Petty at Oak Mt. They were good to like 10th row middle.

Without question ? Come on man .

I am a Jackson Browne fan .. but i think that Fogelberg and Loggins and James Taylor and Paul Simon and even Billy Joel might have something to say about that.. and maybe a couple others im forgetting .. maybe i am mixing eras a little bit, but they were all big in the 70s & 80s..(Paul Simon in the 60s as well).. im not even saying you are wrong , im just saying that “without question” is way too strong a statement to make in re to Jackson Browne being ‘the greatest’ of that elite era , or of all time .
