The J.Crew in Perkins Rowe is closing after nearly 12 years of business, Daily Report learned this morning.

The outlet store was one of the first tenants within the mixed-use development, which opened in 2007. Its last day of business will be Sunday, Jan. 27.

No tenants are currently slated to move into the store’s space, says Perkins Rowe marketing manager Erinn Sala, though she notes they’re actively looking for tenants.

Retail is getting battered. I saw Macy's had a huge earnings miss and their stock was down 18% pre market. I'm not sure how it finished.

Perkins Rowe has lost several tenants recently and already had good bit of unused retail space.

It's because it's Baton Rouge. There isn't the population to support the amount of shopping needed for the rent of that space.

Get ready for posts making fun of JCrew from people who wear cargo shorts and their ‘good jeans’ on Sundays.

Prices too high. 30 dollar t-shirts.

How does Urban Outfitters make it?

J Crew is a cheaper fashion label. No, it may not be Academy price level, if that's what you mean.

They should just increase food and alcohol spots in there.

Perkins Rowe always leaves me underwhelmed. It seems to be trying too hard. A great concept, but just completely out of place for BR.

I went there once and saw a flip flop shop. That place will be Cortana meets mall city in 5 years.
