I don't know about that. Britain was extremely effective at extracting wealth, they evolved to use international corporations and puppet dictators to extract maximum wealth with lower risk (see what happened in Persia and BP). If you have something they want, they found a way to get it.
The US wasn't much better with their actions in Central America and the propping up of countless dictators to extract cheap luxury food items (bananas and coffee especially).
These actions by large empires have bred all of the "extremist regimes" in just about every hotbed in the world.

Agreed. In Malaysia, excluding KL, the only “nice” parts are left overs from the British. Egypt is a chit hole anywhere you go except maybe Alexandria, but the British didn’t spend much time there.

I’ve had Indian teams in the past and spent more time there than I would like. I’ve had several tell me that things would be better if the Brit’s hadn’t left.

Back in the day, our lab manager called me (a female professional at the company) to go and separate two women technicians who were close to having a physical fight.
One was from India, the other from west Africa.
The name calling, the claims that the other stank, and all sorts of things.
I got them to sit down, have a soft drink, and then I played the "Don't raise your voices, don't give the man a reason to fire you. A good paying job in a company in Houston with good air conditioning is worth keeping'. And 'nobody likes everybody, if they do they are stupid. We get along with some real shitty people because it's a learning experience. "
They hated each other for so many reasons and the men in our company didn't want to try to control the situation.

Those numbers are staggering, but I can see why. Sanitation is almost non-existent in India for most of its population.

I was in 8th grade in the spring / summer of 1984 and would visit the worlds fair in New Orleans. One day we went in the Indian exhibit and I had to walk out, not sure how I didn't throw up. I am 57 now and I have yet ever smell anything that bad. I have not encountered many Indians but it seems that they either stink like hell or bath themselves in cologne. What in the hell do they do that makes them smell so bad. Do they not shower? D they wipe their arse? Is it what they eat or is it a combo of all of that?

People as a rule, stink. If you're in an arid country with little vegetation, the biggest source of scent is people. It becomes background, and folks quit caring about it.
I remember once a visiting Indian navy sailor from Calcutta once mentioning how overwhelming the smell of grass and trees were. In Norfolk VA!

East Africans are infinitely better people than the vast majority of Indians. I've known many phenomenal Kenyans. Dozens more excellent Ethiopians. Can't say the same about Indians.

It’s truly overwhelming. I’ve lived in Iowa and raised hogs. India smells worse than that. Combine that with high humidity and a huge amount of body odor and you get close.
It hits you hard.
