That depends on what you're hiring them to do.

Are you looking for a company rep? Or someone to reno your office?

You're hiring both of them. At least someone with tats has some artistic ability or vision, while the non tattooed guy just designs like his wife tells him to.

Retired after 44 years as an over the road trucker, no tats. Though I came close to getting that "old truckers never die, they just get a new peterbilt" tated on my privates

Depends on the sector. Social science white collar jobs are different. Librarians and teachers are tatted up.

I know a lot of white collar people with tats. One of the best transaction attorneys I use has a full sleeve - he wears long sleeve shirts in the office but he’s tatted.

The point is you have no idea if your ceiling would have been higher with no visible tats with the same amount of effort.

I do agree that OP is off base acting like it is the mark of death for white collar professionals

Yeah man, 34 year old CEO of an international utility and power generation company. Definitely the tattoos under my shirt I wear for my remote job are what's holding me back

I'm on the cusp of director, which is as high as I want to go for at least a decade...in my industry, anything past director starts requiring sacrifice in terms of time and travel commitments that I don't have any inclination to make with a young family. My wife is extremely successful, I'm extremely successful, we're extremely fortunate, and that's all that matters to us.

I just love the dog whistle of tattoos and corporate America on this board...never fails to bring out some idiotic anecdotal trash

I’ve been in Disney since Friday, I’ve seen some nasty fat women covered with the worst tattoos I’ve ever seen….. Side note: I would say at least 50% of the people here would be considered obese with their BMI…

Haha…I’ve been in Disney since Thursday with all my kids and my wife’s extended family.

I’ve found the average weight of the visiting contingent is actually LOWER than I’ve ever seen it…now there are still tons of fat asses, but on average we’ve seen fewer…my wife remarked about it.

However the number of tattoos is thru the roof.

I don't get random tattoos of daffy duck or whatever. Why do people put random crap all over their bodies?

I knew a young attorney with arm sleeve tats and neck tats. He sucked at his job and is no longer practicing law

Same. I'm now in a cushy white collar role and several of the baws I work with have full sleeves.

In my career at several different company white collar offices with engineers, lawyers, HR, finance, accountants, marketing, etc., I have never 1 time, not once, seen someone with tattoos

Do you expect them to wear tank tops to the office so you can see them?

Brah, no one who is thinking of actually getting a tattoo is taking you old farts opinion before doing so.

This line of thinking is real. It exists. But it’s slowly dying. As each generation passes, the taboo tattoos will become more widely accepted and ultimately ignored.
