career at several different company white collar offices with engineers, lawyers, HR, finance, accountants, marketing, etc., I have never 1 time, not once, seen someone with tattoos. Most of these jobs people were allowed to wear polos, so their elbow down was completely visible. Only 1 job did I have to wear dress shirt and slacks. What does that say if 30-40% of the public has visible tattoos, but 0% in white collar offices in my experience have them. This is a warning if younger people are wanting a tattoo. It kills your job and career prospects or at least brings your chances down some. You may read on Reddit that it doesn't, but it absolutely does to old school managers.

Get a couple of those HR chicks in bed you’ll see some tattoos

They know where to hide them you know what I’m sayin

The position is. That man shouldn’t be in that position.

Ok what company we going to approach for this challenge? The people being discussed are not in prison. They have already earned a degree. The pool we have to choose from is the white collar pool. You don’t get to go pick people off the street. We aren’t talking about them. White collar workers.

I think the point is that, in general, people who get lots of tats, especially in visible areas, tend to not be the type that go into high paying white collar fields. Obviously there will always be exceptions to the rule.

the next qualification you're going to ask for is the two pools also share the same degrees and salary

No in today's world. I know there are many of you saying you wouldn't hire, but I guarantee you have.

Not everyone gets visible tattoos. Some keep them in covered areas

Also you are slagging off many Vets on memorial day. So patriotic

The guy I enjoy working with the most is a former marine who has sleeves down both arms. People who has to interact with for the first time seem to be intimidated by him. He is a tall guy and doesn't show emotion on his face. Women tend to be more intimidated by him.. A few years ago he was dating a stripper and always seems to date girls who add a lot of drama in his life, but his sleeves look pretty bad arse.

There was a guy who was head of project controls who had a huge rebel flag tattooed on his arm. The dress code was very laid back, but when he wore a short sleeve shirt you could still see the bottom part of his tattoo and he was told he had to wear long sleeves. Their tattoos didn't prevent them from doing their job.

I get it and it’s true. Op seems to throw a blanket retard clause on all people with them and it’s just foolish in 2025. Outdated and backwards.

Right. I know people who have their deceased kids name tattooed on them somewhere. I'll never criticize those folks. Tats dont have to be trashy, its just that too many people become addicted to them.

I get a kick out of these welfare junkies who have literally thousands of dollars of ink on them.

I live in Texas.
Funny you mention lack of impulse control. For my tattoos I onto get them if I still want them a year after I first think of them.

You literally have no fricking clue about anything man. Enjoy your small minded life just assuming you know everything.

Well for one, you clearly don’t understand the meanings of “exception” or “in general.” And second, your reactionary post to someone on the internet displays your lack of impulse control.

I’ve been a lawyer for a long time. Never seen a tattoo on a judge or successful attorney.

A tattoo is a permanent reminder of a temporary emotion.

You see a lot of these people naked? I imagine you can probably only see their face and hands.

Pretty much the same observation in my company and with vendors and outside contacts in the same business. However, in today’s scenarios, I believe tattoos are more acceptable and may be a conversation piece if the tats are done really well. A person’s command of communication skills may offset any initial negative visual opinion.
