I've gone on two weeks or (2) weekends with next to no drinks.

I recently decided to cut down on drinking massively. I was a every weekend drinker for years.
I drank the Saturday before last and nothing this week. I am sleeping better, not aggravated/anxious, appetite is back to normal, stomach back to normal, energy back to normal, drive back to normal. I am present with family now, getting things done. Work is improving.
I'll still have some for certain occasions, but it really can cripple your life just to feel "good" for a few hours.
Happy Monday - Hope this helps someone else also.

I always knew I slept like crap when I drank, it's just part of it. Now that I have a Garmin watch that shows me sleeping habits, it really shows me what's happening. Stress levels start getting high around 2nd drink, heart rate stays above 90 while sleeping into the next day around lunch. From the normal days of my heart rate getting almost below 60 in the middle of the night, it's a considerable difference.

Breaking news - drinking a lot on a regular basis is bad for you

Everyone’s different. A few drinks makes me sleep like a baby and feel good the next day. Oh course you have to know where your threshold is.

Especially after football season, I'll realize I have had a drink in like three weeks and then shrug. I generally will visit a brewery or two on the weekend and have maybe 5 beers overall over the course of two days.

Alcohol is truly the devils playground. F*** the alcoholic, it’s the wives/husbands, kids, innocent bystanders, and employers that tend to suffer the most only because some loser has to have a sip of something that does absolutely nothing for them.
How it’s legal is beyond me.

Haven't drank a drop in 3 years. I wasn't an alcoholic, but not a good drinker. I couldn't have a few, it was always "binge" drinking. It's still difficult for some things like going to a wedding reception, etc.. But 99.9% of the time it's not even noticeable that I don't drink anymore and I certainly feel better not dealing with regular hangovers.

I used to be the same way. Noticed it the last couple years. I can have 2 drinks and I have considerably worse sleep. I too only may drink once a week. I just make sure I don't have anything too pressing the next day.

Saturday I was at the lake. I started having beers around 1 while I was working on some projects. By 4 I had a fire going and polished off a case with some solid country gold. I can't imagine not drinking beer. It's awesome.

I've cut down considerably the last few months. I feel a lot better. I was having two or three beers every day after work and it wasn't enough to be drunk but enough to really frick with my sleeping. I still have a few drinks on the weekends but I have them early enough to where it's gone from my system by the time I go to bed.

Congrats on recognizing you had a problem that was affecting the quality of your life and doing something about it.

Completely neglecting your family and kids so you can scroll on facebook and down a bottle of wine every night seems like a complete waste of your life.
I have come to despise the effect it has on some people.

I drink 3 times a week for 2 weeks a month. The other 2 im at work. I can get shite faced or just drink a few drinks. I don't get hangovers. I only sleep 5 hours most nights because of working 24hr call for more than a decade. I can go without water and food for a day and still function. Every now and then I get 8hrs sleep but that's rare. I'm not bragging by any means. I wish I could function normally.
I'm healthier than most but I need to start exercising again. I know my body is fixing to start breaking down.

I can’t wait til the pendulum swings back and people see how cringe this “sober” fad is

The older I get the more of a premium I put on getting a high quality night of rest. Cutting out alcohol, no caffeine after 5p, and no screens for 30 minutes before getting into bed has helped a lot.
