Trust me, there will be plenty of Republicans opposing SG in the legislature as well.

Just because you’re a Republican doesn’t mean you’re not fiscally liberal, especially in this state.

But an attorney for the city-parish challenged Chris Rials on that point, noting that the predominately-Black and low income Gardere area was originally included in the proposed St. George boundaries during a 2014 incorporation attempt but excluded from the proposed city that voters backed in 2019.

Gee, what a shocker that hundreds of black people who said they didn't want to be a part of St George we're excluded per their request.

What a dumb flawed logic There is a fricking problem in Baton Rouge. It's systemic and has been for decades. You can't undo that shite by inventing an imaginary border and renaming part of the city. The spread will continue. "St. George" will eventually have the same issues as well. As ugly as it sounds to some Baton Rouge needs gentrification in the north. Purge the corrupt bullshite that fricks up progress. I'm just bummed that it will never be done. Politics are too fricking corrupt in this town.

Put your money where your mouth is if you would be able to help with gentrification in the north.

I'm so happy that you think I have gentrification money. I mean I do post on the o.t. but I only have one luxury car to my name.

"Baton Rouge, like many cities, isn't without challenges. We've got our problems. But the evidence will show that the creation of St. George isn't the answer. In fact, it will make things worse," Furr told the judge.

What a stupid argument by Furr. Shouldn’t the elimination of a bunch of white supremacists make what’s left of BR a better place?

I have no idea where St George is, but if I had a billion dollars I’d be funding this breakaway effort myself. This is the only way to save the suburbs.

But wait, I thought white people were bad, so why can't we let them do their own thing?

Yet your argument assumes that the average STG resident does?

Nobody is looking to move to NBR for gentrification purposes

They can have their shithole of drugs, murder, single parent households, and violent crime. NBR is beyond salvageable and will never be saved in anyones lifetime.

The way people talk about baton rouge on here is interesting. I have been once. Didn't seem that bad. I wouldn't pay money to live there but I mean if I was born or went to LSU I might. Granted I have been to 3rd world countries so maybe I have a different perspective.

I was very bullish on BR's future prior to 2016. The city has taken a noticeable nosedive since then. Crime is absolutely out of control right now. It's like Baton Rouge and New Orleans are trying to one-up one another daily.

I understand some of your post, but I think it’s important to point out that St. George is not part of the city. That’s been a point of confusion because the local media and TogetherBR (or whatever it’s called) has pushed that false narrative of a divided city since day one.

St. George is unincorporated area in EBR. Not part of the city of Baton Rouge.

More importantly, the time for all of us to voice our opinions was years ago, before the election. The election was held, and the people decided what they wanted. It should be over. Regardless of your stance on this topic, anyone who wants to live in a democracy should want Broome to lose this case.

Just seems like this will never end. Even if they win in court, the other group will file an appeal and it will keep dragging on.

You think buying some North BR properties would be expensive? Just go to a foreclosure sale or two.

But they need that white money so they can shift it across town and fund programs from which they do not benefit, public schools they do not use, and public transit they don’t ride.

Baton Rouge Police

Are they even funded from dollars received from the unincorporated STG area? Do they even have jurisdiction there?
