Every time middle class people try to better themselves, it’s racist.

Gentrified areas tend to be ones where there is close access to desirable areas.

What the frick is in NBR that is worth being close to? Exxon? You can live in Zachary or other areas and do that.

BRPD and BRFD are heavily funded by the EBR parish general fund.

All unincorporated areas have all sales taxes poured into that pile and then both of those departments take a cut of all money in it.

So, yes, they get money from St George but won’t patrol it.

You can't undo that shite by inventing an imaginary border and renaming part of the city.

Except the border has been there for years and the area that is St George was never a part of the city to begin with. You're really misinformed and ill equipped to argue this honestly.

So are you, as you apparently think that StG is part of the city of Baton Rouge.

The parish attorney is a fricking liar. Saying the voters were mislead.

The voters are probably pushing harder than the administrators. Then the Gardere thing is absolute horseshite. Everyone who wanted to opt out was granted that opportunity. They can GFT.

As ugly as it sounds to some Baton Rouge needs gentrification in the north.

So. Go gentrify it then retard. No one is stopping you. See how that works out for you. NOLA was gentrified. How’s that working out for them? Broome is a Teedy wannabe.

The most egregious example is the City annexing Siegen Lane, Mall of LA and the Casino but then having EBRSO patrol those same areas. What a load of crap.

But an attorney for the city-parish challenged Chris Rials on that point, noting that the predominately-Black and low income Gardere area was originally included in the proposed St. George boundaries during a 2014 incorporation attempt but excluded from the proposed city that voters backed in 2019

But they have no problem drawing the lines for congress or state houses of representatives based on race.

Also, can't they just say that they're all about defunding the police and this is a great way to do it? Blacks in BR will be free of the racist force who hunts them for sport.

It could be argued. They pushed the whole new school system pretty hard when it was never part of the deal
And I have a hard time believing their tax numbers are correct

Incorporation is necessary to get the new school system, or so St George was told by the state legislature. I didn’t see a single ad or statement from StG that stated a new school system would instantly appear after the incorporation vote.

The legislature told them that forming a city was a pre-requisite to getting an independent school district. They have to incorporate first, then create a school district. This suit is stopping them from incorporating. You're being disingenuous, not them.

This is akin to a city getting awarded a professional sports team because the people voted to build an arena, but you're complaining that they haven't already built the arena yet despite having passed a bond issue and having already picked out a site to build it on.

I too am skeptical of the tax numbers, but the criticism about the school district not being a part of the vote is purposefully misrepresenting the issue. They have to incorporate BEFORE they can work on getting the school district. The whole reason they went through all of this work to incorporate a city is to get a school district!
