What are you shitlord men doing to remedy the situation? 80 cents on the dollar is a disgrace. Women are people too.

I for one donated that extra 20 cents to my waitress this morning. I feel great that I've done my part.

Don't most studies show that women get paid less primarily because they are far less likely to actually ask for a raise than their male counterparts?

Way to make it unequal again, dick.

Should have donated an extra 10 cents.

Level the playing field.

I encourage the women the work for me to come to work even though jr. has a slight cough...especially since they burned though all their PTO to watch his play and have lunch with him on Dr. Seuss day.

Working the same hours as their male counterparts should even things up perfectly.

I'm sure it's already known, but 80% is not correct. When accounting for position and experience it's closer to 4-5% less. But that isn't as sexy as saying 20% less.

Yep.

The real issue is our culture considering salary talk between coworkers "taboo."

When I was in college the stat I read was 60% of men always negotiate for a higher starting salary and only 20% of women do.

Idk but the even more common sense answer is that men hold higher paying jobs, this isn't rocket science. Look at the upper, upper level of doctors, company CEOs and execs, lawyers, etc. They're mostly going to be men. So when you jumble up all the data in a "men wage vs women wage" pot obviously the men wage is going to be higher.

Go in a workplace where a man and a woman have the exact same job (wait staff, accountant, teacher, whatever) and I'm sure they're going to be equal.

That, and the fact that men work more dangerous jobs that pay more. Also, men are way more likely to work more hours per year than females too.

The whole premise is just as retarded as the people who shriek is from the roof top.

If the evil corporations really only cared about power and money why would they hire any men? Why would a business willingly pay someone x amount more to do the same job?

I guess the sexism supercedes the capitalism so they'd rather hold women down even though it costs them a lot more money to employ men in their place.

I just read a vox article on it that went in depth on it. It mainly centers on women being the primary partner to leave work to care for a family.

Which makes sense biologically speaking. But of course, that wasn't mentioned. It only kind of presented a guilt trip. Like an "it's 2019 why are women the primary caregivers?!?!?" attitude.

Yea I've never experienced jobs where the pay was different.

Shell advertising an engineering job will pay the same

State job pays the same

Teachers pay the same

I can't name one job where a woman and i can apply equally where I will get paid more because I'm a male

No, the 80% pay is for equal titles/jobs.

Its not the average overall salary

They're not. They're 80% of the male salary on average.

And it is because they are far less likely to ask for a raise or negotiate their salary.

because it doesn't happen, that doesn't exist. Men simply hold a larger share of the big time, high level jobs compared to women.
