My wife works in a male dominated field. The two males that were in her position were made VPs very quickly. One before he took the position the other after a year. She has been in the position for 3 years and still waiting. Has had 5s on all reviews and has watched as other males some with nobody under them get promoted. While she runs an entire division for the entire company. There is a bias.

LOL. No. Just no. You're not just wrong. You're incredibly wrong. This has been debunked over and over again.
It is already illegal to pay men and women differently for the same exact job. It's been illegal since 1963.
Equal Pay Act of 1963
Do you honestly believe that any companies paying women 80% of what they pay men for the same job wouldn't be being constantly sued into oblivion? We'd be reading about these lawsuits every single day.

everyone views things from their own vantage point, just biding time at a company doesn't guarantee an upper management position

Maybe she's just not that good or valuable to the company.

in a workplace where a man and a woman have the exact same job (wait staff, accountant, teacher, whatever) and I'm sure they're going to be equal.
Sorry guys, I like titties.

I am not going to argue that this is not true. It probably is.
However...

2 things: You only know your wife's take on events. I don't know how much those guys work and if they're working better or harder than your wife.
If she's genuinely getting screwed for being a female, i'm sorry. I hope that she has better opportunity or can go to a company that doesn't do that.
I also think something untouched in today's discussion is the effect of #metoo. There's been numerous articles written under the guise of anonymity where men have said, "i've never sexually harassed a single female in my career, but due to the times, i will not promote a woman that i would have to be in private meetings or travel with. the risk is too great."

I love how people still cite the gender pay gap as some major problem, when it is fixing itself. Young woman in urban cities make more than their male peers, all the way up until the point of pregnancy. There's plenty of evidence that nothing should be done, but of course we're going to get some virtue signaling law that actually makes the problem worse, and then the never ending cycle of government intervention.

Yeah, but public companies will always have pretty tight tiers for pay. I think you really see discrepancies at private companies.
If women will accept less for the same productivity/skills, why would a company ever hire a man?

He said in a creepy way, but there is no doubt that a hot service industry woman that knows how to work her customers gets tipped more by men.
Let's say all things are equal and a man waiter and woman waitress are both equally solid at their job. If the woman is hot and flirts with men, she will get more tips from most men.
I do wonder if women would tip the woman less though out of jealousy of her hotness.

Women of equal qualifications make the same amount of money. That figure has everything to do with the fields that women select, and the time they take, out of the workforce, to have and raise children.

Because they work over pervs like that dude. Dudes that think the waitress is actually into them when they go to Hooters or twin peaks.
If a girl is flirty and all but sucks at her job, only weirdos would tip her.

Business exec-“ we should hire more women. They work just as well as men.”
CFO- “nah fam. We’ll pay men 20 cents on the dollar more to do the same work. Screw profit!!!!”

Break it down by hour. Or production value. Things will level out real quick.
Where are these mythical jobs where women are doing the exact same work and getting paid less?
Follow up question, if women will do the same work as men, for less money, why aren't companies hiring only women?
