It's a weird, weird world: Uruguay's Laguna Garzón Bridge

The Laguna Garzón Bridge: it's a bridge and a traffic circle all in one. It looks kinda cool, but WTF:
"It is designed in a circular shape to force drivers to slow down and to allow for pedestrian access along the one-way circular route." LINK

And the rubble and ruins would sit there for 10 months with dead people mixed in.

Don't you think that's a bit of hyperbole? What city would let a collapsed piece of infrastructure sit there for almost a year without any attempt to clean it up, especially if there were bodies involved?
C'mon man.

Y'all inbreds couldn't figure out how to use a roundabout?

Seems like an unnecessarily complicated method to achieve pedestrian access

It doesn't even make sense as to how it supposedly does that or does that better than just a normal straight bridge, plenty of which have built in "pedestrian access."

somebody's brother in law is in the bridge piling business...

Some unfortunately can't. It really isn't that hard.

BR should build this over the river so they get a loop and a new bridge all in one project

And why are there crosswalks to the center of the circle?

The south traffic circle is a historic landmark.

Looks like they left room for a loop.

The lagoon the bridge crosses is a tourist spot. The view is fantastic, so the bridge's design encourages drivers to slow down and take in the complete view of the lagoon instead of zipping across.
Wait, so you're suggesting that the design is intended to have drivers take their eyes off the road while trying to execute a continuous turn?
