Thats not an appropriate way to compare data.

This should be good.

quote:

You need to normalize to a certain infection point (say the day when the countries each reached 150 infections) and then plot the rates of infection starting from there.

Introducing a bias at the beginning of research is a surefire way to get worthless data.

quote:

If you do that, you will see that our rate of infection from patient 150 and forward matches Italy's almost identically and is even starting to exceed.

If I said the virus increases the likelihood that a person will consume a blueberry muffin and then test specifically for that variable, while the data I find might support such idiocy....

The data are still invalid.

It’s not about “virus deaths”; it’s about deaths caused by the virus. Our healthcare system is woefully inadequate in terms of hospital beds and expensive ventilators. If everyone in the US got sick, there wouldn’t be enough of either to go around and healthcare workers would have to wear the same ineffective mask for more than 8 minutes.

The scores of dead people who had other issues like gunshot wounds or shark bites and died because there was no space for them at a hospital or all the ventilators were being used must be considered!!!

There has to be some other variable between the two societies.

Cultural norms allowed rapid spread in a geographically small region.

This caused the overall standard of care to fall, allowing an inflation of deaths.

Also should be noted that the United States has more than five times the population.

I’m sure this has been stated but I didn’t read the whole thread.

The US has 32.6 times the land area of Italy.

The place in the US with the highest rate of infections are obviously high population density areas.
