We've had highs in the 100s for ten straight weeks now. This hasn't happened at all in recent memory period.

2011 had more days in the 100s (with no breaks) than this year.

in 2020 there was a week in late July where it didn't break 90 degrees all week and had lows in the low 60s. that same year it didn't get above 90 till late June.

This year i was still wearing a sweatshirt in the morning on Memorial day. A lot of years we're already in the 100s by then.

i'm not pretending like this isn't a terrible year, but last year was very mild. if i see 5 years in a row of this, then yes, i'll be more alarmed.

Watering the St. Augustine that browned out completely in my yard.

The drought is the bigger issue here IMO. No rain to cool things down even temporarily. And when this happens, the next front often features violent storms.

When did it start being this hot?

It’s always been hot.

Mystery solved.

...if only it were 1 thread a day it might be bearable.

From reading this thread and the linked Poliboard Volcano thread it's pretty clearly defined who is seeing the true light here

Once in awhile they mention that the historical data only goes back so far.

I don’t believe in climate change or global warming or any of that, but I’m 42 and I just don’t think it was this hot when I was growing up.

You are too young to remember when it was much hotter kid.

Back in the day, the highest temperature ever recorded in Baton Rouge, was 110 °F which occurred on August 19, 1909.

You should have seen all those selfish pricks driving these goddamn SUVs all over town.

Don’t be obtuse. We are talking about many days in a row. Not a single day outlier.

What do y’all have to be dicks about everything on here?

Does it make you and most others on here feel better to act like a douchebag for no reason?

This heat is due to a high pressure ridge or heat dome. The climate change people make a big deal out of climate shifts and patterns when we have only been observing for 100 years lol

If the world is as old as they say it is, then you’re looking at a fraction of a fraction of a fraction of the total data

Got heat rash and never had it before. Drier air is pushing temps to +100 F.

I looked up temps for every day in 1984-1985-86-87
Highs were no more than 90-91 and 1/2 the lows for July and august were in the 60s……60s!!!!!!!
1984 hottest day was in June and it hit 96.
One day.

It was. You've just got a couple layers of winter fat you never shed now.
